                                                                      ~* ~ *~

"Mom?" He questions, although it's more like a statement.

I silently drop my mouth open in a burst of fear as I gently rest my arms across my big belly. I keep my gaze connected on his backside because I can't see in front of him, because I'm too far away from the door.

"Caleb," I hear her voice for the first time, as he stays silent. "Well, aren't you going to let me in?"

"What're you doing here?" He loudly asks, his tone deep and unfriendly. "A phone call would have been easier than face to face."

"I wanted to see you," she easily replies. "In person, Caleb."

"What if I didn't want to see you?" He asks, as my eyes widen in shock.

There's silence before I finally hear her voice, again. "Listen to me," His mother quietly says. "I came all the way here, to speak to you. I got the message you left for your father and I, but he wasn't able to come along today. I didn't feel the need, nor the interest, to speak to my son over the telephone. I'd much rather do this in person."

"Do what?" He snaps, as I walk forward and I hold my breath.

"Caleb," I quietly speak up, as he quickly turns to lock his angry eyes on mine. "Just let her in."

He moves to the side leaning his back against the door, dropping his gaze to the ground as I set my gaze upon his mother. She has short black hair, and looks extremely young, but she doesn't look very friendly. Her lips are pressed together in a straight line as she stares over at me in silence. Her gaze roams down my body and I can easily tell she's looking at my pregnant belly, and I can't help but feel awkward and uncomfortable.

She steps inside, taking another glance at him as he closes the door behind her. "First of all, are you clean yet, Caleb?"

"I've been clean," he races out in anger and aggravation.

"Oh, really?" She asks, not sounding convinced as I nervously gulp.

"Yeah really. After I went to rehab for two weeks after you kicked me out of the house and dumped me here, I've been clean ever since then. So don't walk inside my place and question me if I'm clean or not. Without even calling for two years."

"Anyways," she softly speaks up unexpectedly, me realizing she must not even care about whathe just said. Then she gazes over at me in silence as I widen my eyes in suspense and lock them on her face. "I'm assuming you must be her."

"Isabella," Caleb sternly states, narrowing his eyes and crossing his arms.

"Um, you can call me Bella..." I nicely offer, grinning as she eventually grins back.

"Alright Bella," His mother mutters under her breath, walking towards me, and then by me as she sits down on the couch before looking up at me. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too," I quietly let out, nervously taking a deep breath as she nods.

"Well, don't be scared. I'm not going to bite," she easily says, smiling for the first time as I anxiously force another slight grin. "Come sit down."
