Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn (2012)

Rating: 5/5

Genre: Thriller, mystery

HOLY WOOOAAAAHHHH!!!

Gone Girl is an amazing book filled with secrets, lies and betrayal. Gillian Flynn has created a masterpiece.

After five years of a shaky marriage, Nick Dunne's wife, Amy is missing which leaves Nick the prime suspect in the investigation. Nick is merely the skin of the man he used to be, he barely shows any outward emotions and is generally not in the world.

Seriously guys, this book is awesome. Gone Girl is fun, hilarious and so intense I was reeling by the end of it

WARNING: Gone Girl is not your average feel good, oo-ey gooey love story.

Gone Girl follows Nick Dunne's journey as in the first few chapters he discovers his wife is not at home and the living room has been turned upside down.

Flynn has created highly complex characters that were mostly rather unlikeable but there were certain moments where I felt a twinge of sadness for them.

This novel is intense and rich with suspense. You will always be reeling to not what's going to happen next??? and what the hell is going on???

This story is told from the point of view of Nick ad has some diary entries from Amy's past.

There is some controversy over the book's ending but I must say I was not disappointed however nor was I gasping from amazement.

I could not put this book down. As soon as I finished Gone Girl I was trying to persuade my friends to read it so had someone to talk to about how good it is.

WARNING: GONE GIRL DOES CONTAIN SWEARING AND IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 14/15
