A crazy-eyed cranked-up pregnant girl
Is dancing around the benches,
Scoping out handouts
From the tourists and unwary.
Wednesday night I passed here
On my way to the bus stop,
Drunks and homeless crowded the warm doorways
Here
At Union Station,
Huddled from the cold.
The thermometer read ten degrees again,
Just another cold night in Chicago.
Where were you,
Safe and warm ?
Give the girl a dollar !
Even if she is a junkie.
