Don't look too closely
At the old lady at the meat counter
Looking around nervously
Before
She stuffs hamburger into her tote bag,
And
Don't look
At the old man in the dollar store
Shopping the pet food aisle
For cat food,
When he doesn't own a cat.
Don't look !
Or the bag lady with the shopping cart
Full of aluminum cans
Don't look her in the eye because
That could be you in fifty years,
When Social Security is no more
So
Don't look.
