"this is all the explaining i need to do" garrett says and my eyes scan the texts from 'drew'.
my eyes fog up, ready to give way to a waterfall of tears.
"i was just trying to protect you shane" garrett says, his face now soft, looking at me.
"shane..." rachel says softly, exchanging looks with garrett.
i couldn't handle it. i couldn't handle the fact that ryland broke his borfriend, he used him, he abused him.
this couldn't be about ryland. not my sweet, kind, sensitive, shy boyfriend.
i couldn't handle the truth.
so i ran. out the court doors, ignoring the calls of rachel and garrett. i bolted through the hallway; past all the classrooms. out the school doors, out of campus. i didn't stop running until i got home and collapsed in a pool of tears.
