Hi :D a long, action packed chapter... enjoy x

Rose's P.O.V

It's been a week since we came here. People are starting to get used to me being around them, but I can tell they are still uncomfortable. I can't blame them. I have trained and trained alongside Melody throughout the week but I still getting really weak, and it is getting worse each day.

It's getting hard to fight it every day; I don't think I can hold it back anymore. And I can honestly say I'm scared, I know Melody is safe for now so that makes it easier but I never thought about myself. I don't want to be a zombie and I know Melody doesn't either, and she and I both don't want it to be her who has to save me through death. It's going to be very hard for Melody to do it, but I have faith in her that she will do what is needed when it comes.

I looked to my right and see Melody sleeping still. I got up and walked to the bathroom and took a shower. I dressed in simple tracksuit bottoms and a vest top and pulled on some random black trainers. I looked in the mirror and saw that you could see the bite mark on my arm clearly, it also allowed people to see the major discolouration of my skin. I gave up trying to hide it, everyone knew I was infected.

At this point in time the discolouration of my skin stopped just above my stomach, leaving my legs the pale peach that the rest of my skin used to be. My face looked like a mess; the discolouration of my skin went in a diagonal across my face, leaving my face a mixture of colour. One of my eyes were yellow with the tiniest black pupil in the middle, the other still remained the deep brown it always was. I sighed and tied my hair up into a bun, revealing more of my purple coloured veins. I walked back into our room, grabbed a piece of paper and left a note for Melody.

Melody's P.O.V

The days went by slowly and were a repeat of the day before, training, training and more training. I didn't mind though because all we did at school was train, so I'm kind of used to it.

Today was going to be my first shift as look out and protector/defender, it was our job to protect those inside if there was ever an attack. I was excited that the group finally trusted me, but I knew that it was nothing special because everyone had to take their turns. I also get to use my bow. That's the only weapon that they didn't have stocked and I had about 20 arrows left. I didn't feel the need to keep them because we had so many other weapons, better weapons to choose from.

I sat up and looked to my left for Rose, she wasn't there. My heart stopped as I struggled to unwrap myself from my bed sheets. I fell from my bed and rushed up to rose's bed, and saw a note. Please don't say she left me!

Melody,

Don't panic! I know you are! I haven't left; I just went for some fresh air and a run.

If you need me I will be outside, around the back of the building.

Be back soon.

I let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding, I always think of the worst and panic, she knew me too well. Well at least I know she is safe, I would join her for the run but I don't have enough time. I stood and walked to the bathroom and took a shower. 20 minutes later I was washed and dressed for my shift, I knew I was going to be a lot and I also had to prepare for the worst, an attack. I dressed in my black skinny jeans, black combat boots and a large black top that Nicol gave me which had 'I'M SORRY, I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF HOW AWESOME I AM!' written on it.

I walked through the halls to the weapons area, I picked up some knives and put them into the slots in my belt, place my machete in the holder against my side. And also grabbed my bow and arrows and slung them over my shoulder. I grabbed 2 handguns and put them in the sleeves that sat on the sides of my chest; the sniper rifle was already on the roof with the people from the night shift, so I just grabbed some ammunition for it and walked to the lift. I hit the 7th floor button and watched the lift doors close.
