"How long exactly is three years?"

"About eleven hundred-ish days?"

"That's eleven hundred-ish sunsets?"

"And eleven hundred-ish sunrises."

"J, you're making it worse." I groaned.

"Am I not supposed to do that?" He smirked.

"How long are you going to stay here?" I glared at him.

"As long as it takes to get you out of bed."

"I don't know why this is so important to you!"

"Because it's my little sister's birthday and I refuse to let her spend it alone in her room." Of course he'd say that.

"Would you rather I spent it alone outside my room?"

"Yes."

"You're unbelievable. Look, I want to be alone and you're ruining that by being here J!"

"Look, this is really making me sad. My baby sister has no life. I love you Jamie, don't do this to yourself." He whispered.

"Do you want a drink?" I asked.

"No! I want you to have some fun!"

"J, I was having fun until you decided to stop by and interrupt my plans."

"What were your plans Jamie?"

"I was going to hang out with my imaginary friend." And ditch him halfway through the night to go for this really cool party halfway across town. J didn't have to know that.

"J, you need to leave. Now. You're the one who doesn't have a life--and that's okay!"

"I'm not going anywhere."

"Fine. Then I am!"

"What?"

"You heard me." I put on a pair of shoes and walked towards the door.

"Wait what? Where do you think you're going?"

I shrugged and walked out of my dorm room.

"Jamie! Jamie! Where do you think you're going?"

"Somewhere I don't have to deal with you! How does that sound J?"

"Since we're out of your dorm room now, how about we hang out for a little bit? Maybe eat something? Try to celebrate a little bit?"

"J, how long has it been since you spoke to mom?"

"Uh--how does that matter?"

"Are you here because mom told you to come check on me?"

There was a long pause.

"Jamie--I swear I was just trying to protect you--and mom was worried."

"J! I thought we were on the same side!" I snapped.

"Of course we are! But you know how mom is--"

"Positively terrifying? Yeah, I know J--"

"She said she'd come by herself if I didn't, so if anything, I did you a favor."

"Well, you can tell her I'm living my life to the fullest, now stop following me and go back home!"

"Hey, I'm not going anywhere!"

"You're being creepy now J!"

"At least we can go have a few dozen cupcakes before I leave?" I guess I could use some cupcakes?
