Summary:

Heavenly Host Elementary was a school that was torn down after the murders and disappearances of its staff and students. Kasaragi Academy is a high school that was built over the site where Heavenly Host once stood.

One night after a school festival, a group of students are telling ghost stories in the building. Their class representative comes up with the idea for them to perform a charm that would allow them to remain friends for eternity; but an unexpected earthquake transports them to another dimension. In this dimension, Heavenly Host Elementary School is still standing and haunted with the ghosts of the murdered children.

The group tries to uncover the mystery of the terrifying school, and find a way back home before they are all killed by vengeful spirits.

Opinion:

If you feel like questioning your sanity and wondering what is wrong with yourself, go ahead and watch Corpse Party. Not only will you feel like the fucked up one, you can recommend to your friends so they can feel the same!

Okay, for real now. You guys know me well enough--I'm a crybaby, I get distracted, I can't remember certain events that were insignificant, and I get extremely scared extremely fast. If it wasn't for my ecchi-watching friend, I would have never found and watched this anime (by force).

So If you like Deadman Wonderland, Black Butler, Elfen Lied, or other potentially dark things, just watch Corpse Party. Just do it. It only has four episodes, so at the most it will take only two hours of your life to watch it all.

If you are a scaredy-cat like moi, then also watch Corpse Party. Push your limits and lose your appetite, because then you can overcome your fear. In my opinion, and this is my opinion, this show was much worse than Elfen Lied. I have actually seen many of the gorier scenes from Elfen Lied, but I would personally say that Corpse Party is worse for gore just because it is more disturbing than anything.

If you don't already know, this is a short series based off a videogame made in the 1990s. There is actually quite a few games, but I don't have the time to watch all the playthroughs and shit. In all honesty, I care more for the show than the game even though the game explains much more than the anime will.

Even though this show was extremely disturbing, it was surprisingly actually pretty good. Remember how I said in the last chapter that I was changing the ratings, so 1 was horrible and 5 was average, and 10 was throwing up rainbows? Anyways, if 5 is average, I am pretty sure that a 6.5 is fair for this anime.

Some things made me really squeamish, like when one guy is taking pictures of the innards and dead bodies he's finding and calling them, "sick," "insane," or "amazing." Then he gets a mysterious call on his phone, and it's the spirit of the dead girl who's guts he is looking at, and she whispers, "Don't... Don't look at my insides, I feel embarrassed," or something like that. I just squirmed in my seat.

One hilarious thing did happen, and that was...

*SPOILER ALERT*

When an ad spawned in the background as soon as Ms. Yui's head hit the ground, and the moment her decapitated head hit the floor the ad started and said, "Hi, my name is Dave!" And I lost my shit laughing.

Sure, it was during a really bad time, but that ad started at the perfect moment.

Now for the real review... Here is something that outraged me, but first:

*SPOILER ALERT*

So, there's this guy named Satoshi Mochida, who is the main character in the game but there really isn't any protagonist in the show. Anyways, he gets taken to Heavenly Host Elementary with his little sister Yuka, and all I can say is this:

He is the worst brother I've ever seen.

Yuka claims she has to go to the bathroom shortly after getting teleported there with her brother Satoshi, so they try to find a bathroom but cannot in the end. Then they find a ghost girl who is seemingly nice, and Satoshi allows Yuka to find a bathroom alone with the ghost girl, and says as long as they don't "go into the woods," that he is okay with it.

WHAT THE SHIT?!

You just entrusted your little sister to a ghost girl, so they can go alone near the forest and go to the bathroom together (or so the ghost told you), and then Satoshi leaves them to walk back inside the school. Then the door locks, he can't find her, and then the ghost girl attempts to murder Yuka later.

So one thing leads to another, and then Yuka is trapped by a murderer and strapped to a table. She slowly gets some of her limbs torn off and stabbed in the eye, and there are graphic scenes of this torture that horrified me. Then Satoshi finds her, and holds her in his arms as she dies.

I am unsure of how many of you have younger siblings, but I have a younger sister of my own.

This infuriated me, because how can someone be so stupid?! If my sister had to go to the bathroom while in that murder house, I would say, "Fine, do it in the sink or something. I won't look, but I want my hand on your shoulder at all times."

I would never let my sister be left alone with a ghost, and I would tell the ghost to actually leave us alone. I would not let my sister go anywhere farther than three feet away from me, and I would be holding her hand at all times.

Satoshi was the dumbest brother I have ever seen, and I think he was the one who theoretically killed his own sister.

Other than the all-around terrifying scenes of this show, there was just so much murder and horror that... Oh my God, I can't. I could never have endured something like this.

I final thing to say is this: the site I watched it as claims that it is an ecchi anime, but it isn't. There are maybe two panty-shots in the whole thing, and that's for practical camera angles and such. And then there's ten minutes into the first episode, when one friend asks the other for her "special ass cream" and implies a yuri relationship between the two. That's as bad as it gets.

So, for warnings, there is actually a fair amount of language, and TONS of gore, blood, disturbing images, terrifying deaths and other screwed up things, and a little sexuality but ONLY in the first episode.

By the way, the trailer on the side isn't in English subbed, but it is obvious that they are saying dark things. You won't need the subs.

Vote if you've ever had an ad spawn at the perfect moment in the background while watching a show.
