Chapter 18

I was focusing mainly on my studies for the remainder of this semester. I wasn't going on patrol as much. I wanted to prove to Oliver that I could do both.

I did upside down sit up while reading my textbook.

"Interesting studying methods." I looked up from my book and saw Artemis.

"Arty!" I exclaimed.

I dropped my book and flipped off the bar. I ran the her and hugged her.

"How are you doing" I asked.

"I'm doing good. How are you doing?" She asked.

"I'm good. Sorry about the sweaty hug." I said as I grabbed my towel as wiped the sweat from my face.

"It's fine, Hey do you wanna hang out? Maybe grab a bit?" Artemis asked.

"That sounds great." I Said.

"Let me change and I know the best place for açaí bowls, my friend Dylan works there and It's right near campus." I Said.

"Alright," Artemis Smiled lightly.

We left on our bikes and road to the place. We parked the bikes and went in carrying our helmets.

"Hey Maria," Dylan said.

"Hey," I Said.

"Heard from Zo lately?" He asked.

"What?" Artemis asked caught off guard.

"I'll explain, no not really. She said she was trying to focus a bit more on her studies so she's cut back on night patrol. But you know what she's told us. Incase of emergency contact her." I Said.

"I know it's just weird she hasn't told us that. We all worry about her." He Said he shook his head shaking the thought away.

"What can I get you two ladies?" He asked.

We ordered the went and sat at a table outside with our açaí bowls.

"So What was he saying about Zodiac?" He asked.

"He's apart of my team. They know I'm close to Zodiac and they know I don't wanna be apart of her team. But I relay messages to her when they want her to know things. The same thing goes for my journalism class. They know I get photos and exclusive interviews with Zodiac, and if I need to I'll select a few I trust to do interviews with." I Said.

"Ah okay, I understand." Artemis Said.

"How are you holding up? It's going on three years and I don't think I've heard you say his name." I asked.

Artemis's eyes got watery. "I miss him, I miss him with all my heart. I don't think I'll ever love again." She said sadly.

"I'm sorry if I struck a cord." I Said as I took at my food.

"No it's fine I was actually hoping to talk about him." She Said.

We spent the next hour talking about Wally and honestly I felt like I was getting to know him better.

"Arty I'm honestly loving this conversation, but why did you come to me? I barely knew Wally. Why not go to Dick or someone else from the original team?" I asked.

Arty nodded. "I know, but when I've shut the world out, you've kept banging at the door. I trust you and you're like a sister to me." She smiled.

I smiled. "I feel the same way." I Said.

I wanted to tell her about my sister but I didn't dare utter their names. Yet I trusted Arty. "Don't tell anyone but-" and alarm down the street went off.

"Stop thief!" A clerk yelled.

Arty and I jumped up and ran into an ally and we took our cloths off and took our bows from our bikes.

We ran after the clerk. Arty shot his sleeve and it pinned him against the tree. I ran to him and he wiggles out of his shirt. "Come back here!" I yelled. I took bolas from my utility belt and threw them. They wrapped around his ankles and he fell. I want over and handcuffed him.

SCPD showed up and took the thief into custody. Arty and I ran off I sat Dylan standing out of the restaurant starting at me. I jumped down,

"heard you were missing Team Zodiac." I said through my voice cloaked.

Arty stood on the roof in her Tigress costume.

"Ya we've missed our nightly dose of action." He Said.

"Barely Anything happens on campus, even around the fraternities and sororities. Everything's silent." I Said.

A little girl in a Star City university sweatshirt ran over to me. She tugged on my cloak. I kneeled down to her.

"Yes ma'am?" I asked.

"Are you a superhero?" She asked.

"I am," I Said.

"Are you a justice league member?" She asked.

"Not yet, but I do work with league nevera sometimes. In fact I was trained by the Green Arrow and Black Canary who are justice league members." I Said.

Melody from my Journalism class walked over. "Hi, Zodiac Correct?" She asked.

"I am She," I Said.

"I'm in a journalism class here on campus and we love your work. We write about you all the time. But Maria Kinsman, she's the only one who ever gets one on one interviews with you. I don't need to sound like im begging but, if there is any chance could I get an interview with you before this term is up?" She asked as she picked up the little girl.

"Is this your daughter?" I asked. The girl must have been at least four.

"She is this is Katie," She said.

"What time is her bed time? I can come over help get her to bed and we can sit down and talk." I Said.

"Thank you!" She exclaimed with joy.

"I've gotta go." I Said. I scaled the building and Arty and I went and changed in a tree before climbing down and getting our stuff and returning the bowls.

We then left on our bikes and went back to the Bunker.

"really your going to do an interview with her?" Arty asked.

"Yes I am And Melody's a sweet girl. I've read her work she's a non bias writer. It's hard to come by those today. Expecially in today's world where people are critizing heroes." I said.

That night I went to Melody's apartment and we had our interview. We laughed and had a good time. I hoped she got what she wanted for her article.
