Andrew's POV: (cont.)

It turns out I was right. She did kiss me. On the cheek.

~Flashback~

Melanie leans in and I close my eyes waiting for her lips to connect with mine. But all I feel was them against my cheek. "Thank you for everything you have done." She stands up, grabs her clothes, and goes back into her bathroom.

"No problem." I murmured.

~End of Flashback~

Now, we're sitting in the couch watching Twilight. I have no idea what girls see in this movie. All I see is GAY. But it makes her happy. Hold on. Why do I care if this makes her happy? Why do I even care about how she feels? I don't want to know the answer to that so; I turn my attention back to the movie. It is where Edward kisses Bella for the first time. Right there is the reason I'm doing all of this; I want to kiss her. I have feelings for her. I run my hand through my hair. God, that is terrifying.

Melanie's POV:

I glance over at Andrew. He looks hot and uneasy. "If you're uncomfortable you can leave."

"Not uncomfortable, undetermined."

"About what?"

"Whether or not to kiss you." I sit there frozen with shock. He uses this time to press his soft, warm lips to mine. I couldn't help myself I have to kiss him back

so; I do. He lays me down on the couch. I feel so safe and protected. I hear I noise; I freeze. Andrew stops, "What? What is it? Am I moving too fast?"

"No, I hear something." We stay there in silence; it sounds like someone unlocking a door. "Crap, that's must be my mother."

Unfortunately, he gets off of me and we fix ourselves. The front door opens, yep, it's my mother. You can hear her heels on the tile floor as she is walking to

the living room. "Hello, honey."

"Hi, mom. How are you doing?"

"Fine, the spa helped more than you can imagine." Translation: her mom, my grandma, held her until she cried herself dry and made her junk food. I love my

grandma. Mom notices Andrew, "And who is this?"

Andrew stands up, "I'm Andrew Reed, Mrs. Clarke." He holds out his hand, she gets the hint and shakes hands with him.

"I've seen you before haven't I?"

"Yes, mom, he lives next door."

"Well, I think I'm going to leave." He walks passed my mother.

"No, stay. I'm sorry for interrupting your guys evening."

"I should leave; you two need to talk about some family things." He turns back to me, "If you need anything you know where I live." With that he goes.

Michelle's POV: (Melanie's mother)

"What was he doing over here?"

"He was helping me like your 'spa' helped you."

"He is a nice young man isn't he. Are you two...?" I stop the sentence at that waiting for her to fill in the blank.

"God, mom, no he is just a friend. Actually, I'm tutoring him at school." Well, I don't know how much there are friends when they were giving each other the

look.

"Okay, I believe you. It's good that you have someone." She gets up from the couch.

"I'm going to finish this movie in my room."

Wow, she is just like me when I was her age. Never really wanted to talk to anyone but helped people when they needed it. We only let a few people help us.

Andrew must be right for her. I know she doesn't have friends because of what happened to Kevin.

Kevin died in a boating accident. He and his family went to Cape Cod for spring break. Melanie couldn't go because of this project she had to do even though

it wasn't due for another week; she is my little overachiever. She always thought what if she would have been there she could have saved him. Melanie told

me this when we were having a mother daughter moment. I said to her, you could have died too. She never believed me but she healed. I think it's time for

another mother daughter moment.

Having her father die must be hard for her as it is for me. I love that man with all my heart and more. I'm not going to get any sleep tonight so I mind as well

be productive. I need to work on the arrangements for his funeral.

Andrew's POV:

I lie in bed and recall our kiss. The way she felt underneath me, the feel of her lips. I can't believe I kissed her. I actually made my move, probably at the worst moment. But I did it.
