"BROOKLYN DAWN TAYLOR, GET DOWN HERE!"

Well there goes my alarm clock.

Ignoring my mothers unnecessary shouting at me, like always, I rolled over and shut my eyes.

My door swung open.

"Better get your ass down there before Mom comes up here and makes you."

My brother can be such a pain. He's leaving for college in 8 months so I can't wait for a bigger room.

"Don't try and act like the golden child Blake."

"Try? Oh sweetie, I've already succeeded."

I threw my pillow at him.

With a smirk on his face he slammed my door, clearly trying to give me a headache at 8 AM, and went downstairs.

I rolled out of bed and practically crawled to my closet.

What to wear? Hmm...causal? I held up my PINK sweater up to my chest.

Ehh.

Preppy? I took out the polo.

Hell no.

I decided on a blue floral crop top from Hollister, a baggy cardigan over it, and high waisted shorts.

Good...right?

Oh who cares.

I walked out of my room and went downstairs.

"Took you long enough."

My Mom lectured me.

"Good morning to you too."

"Why are these dishes in the sink?"

So that's what I forgot to do last night...

"Um, because someone didn't wash them..?"

"Brooke."

"Fine."

I walked past my mom to the sink and began to wash my dishes.

"Skylar, you better clean your room while I'm at work or no tv for the rest of the week."

My 8 year old sister ran upstairs to clean her god awful mess of a room. Then again mine wasn't any better. I pretty much stuff everything either under my bed or in my closet.

I think something died in there...

"Blake, I'll be home around six. Oh and Rick is joining us for dinner so don't make a mess."

Ugh, Rick. My Moms' "perfect" boyfriend she's absolutely obsessed with. Blake and Skylar don't mind him, but there's just something about him I don't like. I guess I'm just picky.

Mom walked out and got in her car. As soon as I heard her drive away, I put all the dishes in the dishwasher, Skylar came down from "cleaning her room" and Blake walked into the kitchen to get out of cleaning the house.

"Can I have cookies for breakfast Brooke?"

She flashed her puppy dog eyes at me.

"That face only works on Dad Sky."

"Yea but, he never comes to see me anyway..."

It got uncomfortably quiet. We hadn't seen Dad in 5 months. Mom always told Skylar he was busy with work but we knew he was with that skank he left Mom for.

Blake finally broke the silence.

"Hey! How about I make you my famous rainbow pancakes?"

"Yes please!"
