"Mm..." Max rolled over, glaring at his phone on the nightstand. He waited a minute, then rolled back over.
Ding.
"Dammit-" He sat up, snatching the phone. He blinked a few times, trying to adjust to the screen's light. On his lockscreen were two texts from Neil.
Neil: Hey.
Neil: Guys.
The message tone went off again.
Neil: Hey guys.
Max: Neil it's 3 in the fucking morning what do you want
Neil: Do you think plants can see?
Max: oh my fucking god
Neil: Nonono like hear me out
Max: no
Neil: Like it's proven they can hear
Max: stop
Neil: So do they have the other four senses as well?
(Max changed Neil's name to Nerd😝)
Nerd😝: Fuck you

Max groaned loudly and powered off his phone. He fell back onto the bed and swaddled himself in the blankets, craving sleep and death.
