Chapter 2.2
DYLAN CAINE---------------->
CHLOE’S POV
My body seemed to explode. I gripped the sheets.
“Grab your legs like this.” Dylan helped me get hold of them. “Ok, pull against them as you push. Push hard. HARDER! Let’s meet this kid once and for all!”
I pushed, sa kabila ng sakit..sa kabila ng pagod.. despite the indignity of having Dylan between my legs. The pain stopped. I felt a relief so total that for a moment I thought I just died. Tapos nakarinig ako ng iyak ng bata..
*uwaaaaaahhhh.. uwaaaaaahhhhhhhh*
“A boy,” Dylan said “Perfect and breathing on his own already.”
I felt something warm against my abdomen, my legs collapsed as I look down. “Oh my God.. my baby.” sabi ko.
“Kailangan kong humanap ng kahit ano to tie off the cord and cut it with. Wag kang gumalaw, he needs your warmth.”
Narinig ko si Dylan na pabalik-balik sa kwarto, naghahanap ng kung ano, pero wala ako sa sarili ko. I felt like I’m floating somewhere far away. My baby is finally here.. My son.
“Nakakita din! wooh!” Dylan sighed in relief. Kung napagod ako, alam ko pati din naman siya. Iniisip ko na siguro hinihiling niya na sana matapos na ang gabing ito.
“Is he really.. all right?” tanong ko. I want to make sure.
“Better than that.”
Pinanuod ko si Dylan habang itinatali ang cord ng baby ko with something that looked like shoelaces? and snip it with what looked like an embroidery scissors?
Napansin niya siguro na nakatingin ako sa ginagawa niya. “Maswerte tayo may nakita akong ganito dito. Hindi ata inalis lahat ng pinsan ko ang mga gamit ng tita ko when she moved.” sabi niya.
“Pinsan?Mo?”
“Yeah. I bought this house from her. This is the house where I grew up..” explain niya.
Alam ko na ngayon kung nasaan kami. Ito ang bahay na itinuro sa akin ni Mae na pagmamay-ari daw ng mga Caine before Dylan became the father of my son. Iniwasan ko na dumaan dito ever since. Until tonight.
“I’m going to wrap him, then you can hold him. Wag ka muna kumilos, I’m not quite finished with you yet.”
