Chapter Nineteen

Elise’s POV

3 days after the drug test and medical exam, my mom and I are at the police station again for the results. My mom brought the results for Louise to see. Charlie wanted to come but I asked her not to since school is still going on and I don’t want her to miss any classes since she’s graduating and it might affect her class standing. So here I am, sitting in front of the table, waiting for Louise to tell us the results.

After a few minutes, Louise turned to my mom with a serious look on her face

“The drug test failed to detect the Flunitrazepam in Elise’s body” Louise spoke “and the medical exam showed that the bruises were not that serious so it will be healed in a few days. There are vaginal lacerations and a minor genital injury, the pain that Elise had been feeling in her genital area. No internal injuries”

“What about the DNA?” I asked worriedly

“Unfortunately, they have not been able to get any DNA sample”

“So the only evidence we have now is the result from the hair test which is still not that reliable?”

“That result will still help us to convict James” Louise sat next to me, “If that test is positive, we can work on getting a search warrant and If we find that video and the drug with his fingerprints still on it, it’ll be enough for the jury to convict him“ she then took my hand “We can win this Elise, it may look negative now but trust me, we will get that man in jail”

After hearing everything Louise said, mom embraced me tightly, relieved that the bruises and injuries I have were not serious but at the same time, felt disappointed due to the results of the drug test and medical exam. Louise told us to go home and rest and that she’ll contact us as soon as she gets any more information

So with that, we sadly went home. Mom had received a call from her office and asked her to come by so mom dropped me off at our house. When I got out of the car, Charlie was sitting on the front porch, still in her soccer uniform, with the most reassuring smile on her face and a medium-sized box next to her. Guess she knew there's bad news based only on my face despite that, I still went to her with a smile

“Hey” Charlie greeted as she stood

“Hey, practice over already?” I asked

Charlie nodded, “it was cut short, some of our players have conflicting scheds so only a few managed to attend” and then she took the box “and I bought you a blueberry cheese cake!” she grinned

I smiled and gave her a hug, “Eww..you’re still sweaty and you’re smelly, go take a bath!” I joked as I pull away from her

Charlie laughed “well, in that case, I’ll go take a bath now. I’ll smell like roses in no time!” then she took my hand and we went inside my house

Charlie’s POV

Elise went to the kitchen to put the blueberry cheesecake on a plate while I took a quick shower, I still have some of my clothes here so I didn’t bother to go home. After the shower, I joined Elise at the living room with two slices of blueberry cheesecake ready on the table

I quickly sat close to Elise and placed my arm on my shoulder, Elise pulled away as she took and gave me the plate of cheese cake. She turned on the TV and we watched as if nothing was wrong

But something was wrong and it was clearly shown on Elise’s face. It must have something to do with the test results

Elise sighed and softly spoke “….they didn’t found any of James’s DNA on me…”
