"If you're uncomfortable meeting my family I completely understand. I can just go give Julie her gift then we can go."

I'm sure he asked me that because of the look on my face. I was just thinking about some things though. Things like life. My life is so damn mixed up right now. It kinda always has been though, but damn, ugh, I just don't know.

"No, we are here now. I don't wanna be rude and not get out. I'm a little nervous, but I'm good."

"You don't have to be nervous. Well, not really I don't think." He tried to say the last part in a quiet tone.

He sighed, fidgeting with the jewelry box in his hand. Today is his little sister's birthday, so he got her a gold necklace that says 'Princess Julianna' in cursive letters."

"Why the sigh? What's wrong?"

"Yeah daddy, what wrong?"

I looked behind me to see Layla rubbing her face and yawning. She slept almost all the way over here.

Raheem was about to say something, but Layla spoke again. "Ooo, there goes Grannie! Let's go say hey to Grannie!"

I looked towards the house to see a beautiful lady walking down the stairs. I remember Raheem telling me that she's almost fifty, but the lady looks like she could be in her twenties! She must really take care of herself.

Raheem let out another sigh and then he got out. He got Layla out first, then he came around to my side to open the door for me.

As soon as Raheem put Layla down, she ran over to her grandmother. He took this time to briefly tell me why he suddenly started acting strange.

"I honestly don't know how my mom might react to you. I mean, I hope she ain't gonna be straight up rude, but she pretty much hated Bianca from the start. And plus she thinks I jumped into another relationship too fast after Bianca. She doesn't think I had enough time to heal."

"But umm... Do you think you rushed into a relationship too quick?"

"Baby I haven't seen you in a few weeks, get your ass over here boy!" His mom said while laughing.

He didn't even bother taking a second to answer my question, which I didn't  like. He lightly grabbed my hand then walked over to his mom. She kissed him and hugged him and all that good stuff, then she acted as if she didn't see me.

"Look at you son! You look so handsome today. Oh, but you always do of course."

"Thanks, but umm ma, this is my girlfriend. Adrianna, this is my mom."

She looked me up and down. "Oh, well ain't you a cute little doll! How old are you honey? Sixteen?"

Damn, I don't know whether to be offended or not by her statement! I'm not surprised she's treating me this way though. I wish Raheem would have just let me lay in bed all day like I usually do.

"Ma chill, she's nineteen. I told you that. I also told you that she was my childhood friend. We went to school together and plus we got to hang out a lot because her grandma and my grandma were good friends. She was the one that I'd tell you about all the time."

His mom looked like she was trying to think back to that time. She opened her mouth to say something, but she was interrupted.

"Juliette, what are you doing to these kids? Interrogating them?" His dad came out of the house. Damn, I swear Raheem resembles his dad! Maybe it's true what they say... or maybe it's just their similar skin complexion. I don't know.
