Maria said Tony had things to do in Milan that might take more time than expected. I didn’t expect it to be long. But as long as I can hear news from Maria, it’s all right.

Angelo had been visiting me more often. He’d take me to walks around the place—usually to the marketplace where he buys his ingredients. He taught me how to cook asparagus soup—which became my favourite. In return, I teach him to make poems in English after I caught him composing an Italian song once.

“I hope I understood that,” I remember saying to him. Then, he translated his song.

I wish that I had you first,

I wish that I had never been too late,

I wish that I could have a place in your heart,

Then, I would have been so happy.

Just like the stars, you are,

Shining so bright, you illuminate my path,

*You brought me to the ground,

Fallen like a falling star, that I hoped that I…can make my dreams come true,

And that is to be with you.

I loved the song. I kept his copy and we often sing it together (in Italian, as usual) then he plays the guitar. I don’t know why, but whenever I am with him, I feel so happy, light, and healthy. I forget things like my sooner death, or my sickness, the pain.

Everything that surrounds me gets lost.

But I am not supposed to feel this way, right?

                Happy but confused,

                Suzanne

***********************************************

If you didn't get the meaning of the song(especially the second verse), it meant that Angelo hoped that Suzanne will love him, and that Suzanne has completely made Angelo head-over-heels.

* Angelo was being referred to a lurking meteoroid that is being attracted to a star(gravity...) but was being pushed away instead. He became a shooting star, landing on Earth.
