Chapter 10

Ryder's POV

When I wake up the next morning, I expect to see my mate next to me, but when I don't, I start panicking. I get out of bed, and I'm about to run out of my room when I hear the shower on.

I relax slightly, and I get back into bed. I was worried that I was either dreaming about finding my mate, or that she went back to that other Alpha named Zeke or something.

A few minutes later, my mate steps out of the bathroom and she's only wearing a towel. Water droplets from her hair fall down to the exposed skin of neck, and trail down until I can't see them because of that stupid towel. My wolf growls in approval as we watch our mate.

At first, my mate doesn't realize that I'm awake, and that I'm staring at her. She grabs some of her new clothes, and she's about to drop her towel when she turns around, and our eyes lock.

Her eyes instantly become huge, and her skin pales a little as she lets out a surprised squeak. I chuckle a bit before I stand up and walk towards my mate. For every step I take towards her, she takes 2 steps back.

This continues until she gets backed up into a corner. The sides of my mouth tug up into a smirk and I put my hands on either side of her on the wall so she can't escape.

She clutches the towel closer to her, and she looks up at me with an innocent gaze.

I smile at her as I move a strand of hair away from her face. After that, I trail my index finger down her cheek, and down her neck.

Her breath hitches in her throat, and I smile a little. I press my lips against her soft cheeks, and I follow the path I made with my finger.

Once I get around her collarbone, she starts panting. I kiss around her neck looking for the spot where she will bare my mark.

I kiss the part where her shoulder and neck meet, and I'm rewarded with a soft moan. I grin and kiss that part of her neck again which causes her to moan again and I can smell her arousal.

When I look up at her face, her face is bright red, and she looks like she wants to be anywhere but here.

"Why do you look so embarrassed, sweetheart?" She just flushes even more and she starts looking at the ground.

"There's no reason to be embarrassed. I'm your mate," I say proudly while puffing out my chest. She lets out a soft giggle that's music to my ears. I take a couple of steps back so she's not cornered anymore.

"I'll let you change while I'm taking a shower."

After my shower, I pull on the pair of boxers that I brought with me into the bathroom. I go over to the sink and I see that I have a little stubble growing.

I wonder if Elizabeth likes facial hair? What if she hates it or it annoys her?

"She didn't sound like she minded this morning," Kaydon says smugly. I smirk as I remember her reaction. My mate is so adorable.

I put some clothes on before I follow Elizabeth's scent downstairs. When I get downstairs, I see that she is helping Emily make breakfast. I smile at how close those two are already.

Elizabeth seems very shy, so I'm glad she's opening up a little. She throws her head back laughing at something Emily says, and my smile widens to a grin. The sound of her laughter is the most beautiful thing, other than her voice, that I have ever heard. I would do anything to make sure that she is always happy with me. Kaydon growls his approval to that statement in my head.

Kaydon has also said that Annabel, Elizabeth's wolf, is opening up to him. She has literally turned him into a love-sick pup, and it's quite hilarious.

Usually Kaydon is serious, quiet, reserved, and he is always brooding. However, since we met our mate, he has not stopped talking about how perfect they are and how lucky we are to have them as our mate. I couldn't agree more with him. Our mate has changed us so much, and I couldn't be happier.

Emily and Elizabeth finally notice me standing near the door and smiling at them. Emily sends me a wink, and Elizabeth gives me a shy smile.

"So what are guys making?"

"Well, we have some pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, sausage, fruits and a whole lot more. Can you please call everyone down here, alpha?" Emily says while batting her eyelashes at me towards the end of her statement. Elizabeth and I laugh at her before I mindlink everyone that breakfast is ready.

The sound of footsteps rushing around the house makes it sound like there's a pack of wolves near. Oh wait! We are wolves.

"If you say jokes like that, you will scare our mate away. From now on, stay away from telling jokes," Kaydon says to me with an eye roll. Whatever, he just doesn't get my sense of humor.

"What sense of humor?" I'm about to reply when I notice that everyone is staring at me weirdly. I look around and see that everyone else is sitting at the table, and I'm still at the door.

"Are you ok, Ryder? You've been standing in that spot for 5 minutes now, glaring at the wall." Brian asks me while raising an eyebrow at me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just got into a small argument with my wolf," I say a little embarrassed before I quickly sit down next to Elizabeth.

"Real smooth, Alpha Ryder, real smooth," Kaydon snickers in my head.

"Shut up you dumb wolf." I say before cutting off our connection.

Elizabeth looks over at me with concern in her eyes, but I just give her a reassuring smile.

Once she sees that I'm fine, she turns and starts eating her food.

After breakfast, I ask her if she would like to go talk to Jake now. She quickly agrees and runs up to our room to get some shoes and a jacket.

Once we're ready, we start heading towards his cabin while holding hands. When I first took her hand in mine, she blushed and looked away.

When we get to Jake's house, Elizabeth knocks on the door 3 times. Jake appears at the doorway less than 30 seconds later.

"Hey sis! How are you?" Jake days as he pulls Elizabeth into a tight hug. He catches my eye, and we nod at each other.

"I'm good. There's something I want to ask you," Elizabeth says with a nervous smile.

"Ok, go ahead, ask away little sister." She rolls her eyes playfully at his comment. Elizabeth glances at me so I start speaking.

"I have to go back to my pack tomorrow, so Elizabeth is going to be leaving with me. I have heard that you are an excellent warrior, and I was wondering if you would like to come with us and join our pack."

"Really? I can join your pack?" I nod my head.

"Will I have to go through a certain process to be accepted into your pack?"

"No, but you're going to have to go to training sessions to learn the techniques my pack uses in case of an emergency. As I said before, I have heard good things about your fighting skills, so I'm not worried. You could become a pack warrior if you would like." Elizabeth grins at me, and I'm glad that doing something so simple has made her so happy.

"I'd be honored to join your pack," he says with a smile.

Elizabeth squeals from next to me, and she jumps on Jake. He laughs and spins her around.

Next she jumps on me and thanks me for the millionth time.

I love having a mate.
