Summary of the story? :

I run.

The world disintegrates around me, becoming the feel of the earth under my paws as I tear through the woods. I weave between the trees, the deep red-mauve of my fur screaming against the muted tones of the forest. Leaves and twigs crunch beneath me as I tear forward, always trying to run faster, knowing he’s not far behind.

Vermuelen Constancine, known as Conver in the embargo scene of 1920, owns the hotel Kelts, just under a million American dollars, the minds and hearts of hundreds of tax payers, and, as far as he’s concerned, the lives of every Negro in the country. Behind intricate hand-crafted doors are burning crosses, and beneath the felt suit worn to make women swoon is a full length white cotton robe.

The very fabric of Vermuelen Constancine’s life is about to be rewritten, along with his DNA, along with his heart.

He’s looking for blood.

Little does he know, it’s looking for him, too.
