I sat in bed, staring at the ceiling. What could I say? I didn't want to sound creepy or needy or clingy or–
Oh god. I am gonna mess this up.
Where would we even go?
It's not like I could pay for anything but fast food.
I leaned up.
I had always had a gray splotch of paint on my closet wall. I breathed, looking at it. Blue. Not gray. Blue. How, when something that was missing since forever is here, how could I possibly ignore it?
I wanted badly to take Phil out on a date to a nice restaurant, with lighted candles and flowers everywhere, the lights dim, we'd be holding hands across a round table with a white tablecloth, steak dinners and fancy desserts, waiters that refill your drink before it's halfway gone, oh, and they'd have that towel over their arm, and then I'd come up with something witty to say and Phil would laugh his beautiful laugh and we would look in each other's eyes and....
I picked up my phone.
Dan: Hey stranger
Dan: so
Dan: um
Phil: hi dan!
Dan: I was thinking
Phil: so I was wondering
Phil: would you like to maybe
Dan: uh would
Phil: go on a date with me?
Oh. My. God. He just asked me that. Phil Lester just asked me that.
Phil: hello?
Phil: oh god
Phil: did I just mess everything up
I looked down to realize I had been daydreaming. CRAP.
Dan: No, I saw your message and
Phil: please don't hate me
Dan: actually I was too busy doing a happy dance to see the rest of your messages
Phil: what really
Dan: yeah
Phil: HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Dan: :(
Phil: I saw "happy dance" and I immediately thought of chandler from friends
Dan: :(
Phil: aw cmon im sorry
Dan: I'm too embarrassed to even correct your "im"
Dan: wait
Dan: no I'm not
Dan: **I'm
Phil: *rolls eyes*
Dan: lol
Phil: so, like, a movie or something then?
Dan: yes! A movie would be great!
Phil: I'm paying for your ticket
Dan: well then I guess I'm paying for yours instead
Phil: not happening
I smiled. Phil was amazing.
Dan: yes it is and you know it
Phil: fine then no movie
Dan: what no!!!!
Phil: dinner and a movie
Dan: um
Dan: I can't let you pay for all of it
Phil: it's a date. You don't have choice.
Dan: fine
Dan: but only because I like you
Phil: I know
I put my phone down. What an absolutely amazing day.
