The kiss

Kenneth's POV
I was walking Maddie home, but I couldn't help but to keep thinking about if I did something wrong to make Maddie want to leave or to make her uncomfortable..we arrived at her house, but instead of her walking inside her house , she sat on the curb. She patted the empty spot next to her telling me to sit with her so I did. There was a good amount of silence , no one said anything. We were staring at the stars in the dark night sky.. But then she laid her head on shoulder while she hugged my arm and I couldn't help but to smile and feel so happy.

Maddies POV
We were staring at the stars in the sky and it was getting cold so I laid my head on his shoulder and wrapped my arms around his and it was the best feeling In the world. All I smelled was his cologne it was like toxic I couldnt get enough of it. I decided to break the silence.

Maddie:"hey Ken"

Kenneth:"hm?"

Maddie:"why where you so mad at the guy at the theaters, and then you got super protective , I was fine I can take care of my self"

Kenneth:"oh really? Because you didn't seem so fine when you were trying to get out of his grip but was struggling because you couldn't. Maddie I'm sure you know why I get so overprotective of you, I don't want anything to happen to you or for you to get hurt"

Maddie:"I understand , just don't get so violent okay?"

Kenneth:"oh okay, I'm sorry"

Maddie:" it's okay"

Once again there was this silence. Then he sighed, but it was just any sigh it was a long sigh , so I knew something was up. I nudge his arm and he looked at me.

Maddie:"hey , what's wrong"

Kenneth:"nothing"

Maddie:"Ken, I know you better than you know yourself , please tell me what's wrong?"

Kenneth:" sometimes....I feel like I'm gonna disappear, or that I should"

Maddie:"I don't think you need me to tell you this but I always will, your not gonna loose yourself , I wouldn't let that happen"

Kenneth:"how?"

Maddie:"I'd tell you all the time how special you are....how special you are to me and how much I need you because Kenneth....I love you"

Kenneth's POV
Wait did Maddie just tell me she loves me?? And that I'm special to her and that she needs me???

Kenneth:"when you say love do you mean as a friend?...or more than a friend"

Maddie:"I mean more than a friend Ken...I like you a lot but ..."

Kenneth:"but what?"

Maddie:"but we can't be together...."

Kenneth:"oh...I think I should go now"

Maddie:"noo stop why do you do that?"

Kenneth:"do what?"

Maddie:"everytime I say something like that you always want to leave/go ...why?"

Kenneth:"because when you say those things my hopes get crushed and my heart breaks...Maddie I don't have the strength to stay away from you anymore"

Maddie:"then don't. Don't stay away. I don't want you to , just give me some time Ken, I have all these feelings and their everywhere, I don't know how to deal with them or what to do I just need time"

Kenneth:"fine take all the time you need...I'm gonna go home now catch you later?"

Maddies POV
Kenneth was getting up to leave and was starting to walk away but I got up and ran after him

Maddie:"KEN WAIT!"

Kenneth:"wha-"

I didn't let him finish , I cut him off because I kissed him , I don't know why but I did , i don't know what came over me but I kissed him, his soft lips on mine it just all felt right, like this is how it's supposed to be.

Kenneth:"I thought you needed time.."

Maddie:"I-i do , I don't know why I did that I'm sorry"

Kenneth:"no it's okay, I enjoyed it 😅 but take your time Maddie, I need to get home it's getting really late, I'll catch you later okay?"

Maddie:"okay"

His kissed my forehead before he walked off into the night.
