Chapter Nine: Not As Fun As It Seemed

Colette's Point Of View

George finally caught me up as we arrived at the potions door. No one else was here, so we sat on the stairs for a few minutes, "So, what do you wanna do?" George asked casually,

"What, when we leave?" I asked and he nodded, "Merlin George! I've only just got here! If you don't want me here, say!" I joked,

"You knew what I meant!" George defended and with a laugh he lightly pushed me, "It was just out of interest."

"I love to work at St Mungo's." I said. George gave me a strange look from out of the corner of his eye, "What? I do!"

"You do what?" Came a voice from behind us and Fred squeezed between me and George,

"She wants to work at Mungo's!" George exclaimed, causing Fred to gasp,

"Whatever for?!" He asked in a dramatic voice,

"Because I do! I love hospitals and all that kind of stuff. Always have done. I wanted to be a nurse originally but since I suppose I'm in the wizarding world now, might as well use it!" I said with a shrug.

"You're a weird one," Fred said, standing up and pulling me up, "Come on. Let's go." I pulled George up and we walked into the potions classroom. I felt like I'd just been shot. It was the totally opposite to what I had excepted. I imagine some kind of bright room with a happy professor that liked to blow things up. But no. Not for Lottie.

The room was extremely large but plain and boring. There was a few cabinets dotted around the room along with two rows of desks spilt into columns and a couple of large windows. And that was about it. Besides the teacher. If that is what you call a teacher. He stood proudly at the front of the classroom with his arms folded and his face looking like a smacked arse along with black hair that looked like it had never known shampoo like my nails didn't know polish. He was decked out fully in black with the same colour eyes. I took a seat towards the left of the room and George sat next to me. He smiled and I frowned. I mouthed to him to ask who Fred would be with. He just leaned back a little and Fred was on the next desk, Lee parked next to him. Oh my goodness, not seen Lee in ages. Like all of maybe 18 hours. Fred saw me and waved as did Lee. I returned the wave and looked towards the front, "Today," Droaned the teacher, "We shall be studying how to make the Draught of Peace. This will appear in your O.W.L examination you will be taking in June and I expect you all to have made a potion to an acceptable standard by the end of this lesson. Page 107 in your textbooks, you have one hour." He explained, sounding like he'd been stuck in a dark room all his life. I looked at George and he smiled,

"Don't worry. It'll be ok." He re-assured me and I flicked through the textbook. I finally found the page and looked at it in shock,

"We've got to make this?! What's next, slaying a dragon?" I asked, making George laugh,

"No. But if there is anymore sarcastic comments from you Miss," Came his voice from above me. I looked up since I realised he had stopped mid-sentence. He was staring at me, quite intently and seemed to be staring deep into my eyes, as if he was looking at my soul like some kind of hippie dude,

"Erm ... Colette, sir." I said. He snapped out of his trance and shook his head,

"Yes, well. If you make any more comments like that Miss ... Colette. I shall be forced to punish you." He said in the same bored tone as before as he swished his robes and stalked away from our desk. I slowly turned my head to George and he was doing the same thing and by the looks, we were sharing the same expression. Shock, confusion and a little bit of fear,

"You alright?" He asked me quietly. I nodded and he sighed in relief,

"Well, let's get on with this." He said. I nodded quickly and began to read the instructions to him.

"That one thing you're good at." He said, sitting on a stool as I stirred the potion,

"What?"

"You can read well." He said and I gave him a look, "And you got ace stirring skills."

"Oh yeah of course." I laughed and looked around the room. The teacher was staring at me and I felt a little awkward. I looked down at the potion and Merlin knows how but someone managed to catch on,

"What's up?" George asked me,

"That dude keep staring at me." I said without looking up. I see George look around the classroom and his eyes landed on the teacher.

"Back to work Mr Weasley." He said in the same bored tone as before and George looked back at me. He went to start talking but I beat him to it,

"Can I look up now?" I asked and George nodded. I looked up and shook my head quickly, "So he was looking at me?"

"Yeah. But that's only Snape."

"Only ... He doesn't look much of a fluffy bunny." I said and George laughed,

"No, not really. But I don't think he would do anything to you besides throw you a few detentions." He shrugged,

"It's slighty disturbing though." I said, "What's wrong with him?"

"I dunno." George shrugged and threw something into the cauldron, "He just seems a depressing person."

"Oh. Well, did I tell you to do that?" I asked him and he rolled his eyes,

"Take this seriously Lottie. I'm trying to explain him to you."

"With great difficulty." I laughed and George shook his head,

"You're a really awkward person." He stated and I grinned and nodded quickly,

"You hating?" I asked and he shook his head,

"It'll be something to get used to." He shrugged and looked at the potion,

"Issss that a compliment?" I asked, dragging out the S and I tried to look cute at him. George looked at me and then took a double take,

"Yeah ... Why not?" He said slowly and then looked back to the Potions book he had in front of him. Crazy child.

"Here sir." I said as I approached Snape's desk and placed the potions on his desk. He looked up from his work and stared at me for a few seconds,

"R-right ... Well, thank you Colette." He said, taking the potion from me and placing it with everyone else's. I nodded slowly as I didn't want to seem ignorant and turned away, walking towards George.

"You alright?" He asked for about the 59th time in that lesson. I began to pack my bag as I nodded,

"You sure? You looked like you shit yourself!" Fred said and I whipped my head up, glaring at him. He held his hands up and grabbed his potion, walking off to Snapes desk,

"He's right though Lottie. You looked like you witnessed someone die." George whispered as we sat down waiting for the bell to signal the end of class.

"That's because at some point I probably have." I mumbled as the bell rang and Snape dismissed us. I got up and walked out of the class with George following me and Fred following George,

"Alright, where to?" I asked,

"Charms." Fred and George chorused,

"Oh, I got Dark Arts. I'll see you guys around yeah?" Lee said as we waved and he ran off in the opposite direction,

"Hmm. Ok then. Weasleys, lead the way!" I exclaimed as we walked up the steps towards the changing staircases.
