Dark clouds.

Dark black raging clouds that have the mighty running for shelter.

Heavy pelts.

Heavy painful pelts of rain that beat down blocks of concrete. Leaving behind holes filed with proof of its presence.

Empty streets.

Empty deserted dead streets devoid of over obnoxious humans. Nature finally forced them off.

And I?

I stand in the middle of these empty soulless streets and look up at the black raging clouds while welcoming the heavy raging pelts of the rain.

Why?

Because I'm free.

Truly free. For the first time in many years. And it doesn't matter in this moment that I have no where to call my home or that when the rain stops I have no piece of clothing to change into.

No it doesn't really matter.

Because in this moment, I can be outside without anticipating punishment for doing so. And maybe I might even catch pneumonia. But at least it would be my choice. Not because I'd been dunked so many times into the bathtub, I couldn't help but be sick.

But will this last?

Even though I'm free now, I know it's short lived as very soon my pursuers will catch up to me. But in this moment, I stretch out my hands to the sky and let Mother Nature's tears wash me clean until-------

No.

I feel a jerking motion

I can't die. I'd rather be back there than die, was my last thought as I fell into a black hole of unconsciousness.

But at least I'm free.

So I took the #JustWriteIt pledge. Would anyone reading be kind enough to give me pointers on whether or not I'm doing good.

I think I'll be updating daily, since it's a short story.

But 10,000 words? Bruh!
