"I guess we both lied.
As if I didn't think the world
Of you.
As if I didn't constantly
Seek you.
As if I didn't fall asleep
Thinking of your words.
As if the melody
In your voice
Didn't soothe my
Angry soul.
I lied because you are like
The moon,
Not the Earth,
And I'm too terrified of
Going too far.
You lied because I am like
The sun
And you think I cause the
Same burn
And I am too fiery for you.
But I can't say these words
And expect you
To understand.
I hope we once felt
The same things,
And I still listen to songs
That remind me of you.
But I feel like we know
We are from
Different worlds.
I hope you will find someone
Who will infatuate herself
Like I did,
Who will take risks
Like I did.
Meanwhile
I will plant myself back in
The earth
And wait for someone to
Pick me,
Someone who does not fear
My sharp thorns.
Another looks at me
As if he expects
My bones to shatter.
'How have you managed Without him?'
'I haven't,' I say.
Because
Being without you
Brings me sadness,
And the falling snow is not
Loud enough
To hide the screams you left
In me."
