Tonight I will dream
Sad words.
And tonight I will stare
At my bare ceiling
And watch the smooth moonlight
Creep through my window
To cast shadows on
My walls.
These shadows,
Black and ominous
Are only light that fought
To kiss the earth.
I stare at these shadows
Empty eyed
And I feel nothing
But the yearning of my soul for
Something more.
So on go the lights.
I long to be wrapped in paper.
Enraptured by letters on a page.
I will find comfort
In beautiful people who are not seen.
They will inspire me
They will laugh and cry with me.
They will die inside with me.
They will come to life with me.
Tonight I will read
The saddest thoughts
And tonight I will paint my soul
In ink
To cover the emptiness
In me.
