Chapter 2

The sun was lifting, and the birds were chirping. Watching the sun rise, and wake everyone up was a beautiful thing. I was standing in front of my bedroom window. Watching. I heard soft footsteps behind me. I turned around to see mom standing there with something in her hands. She looked like crap. Her hazel eyes were red, from crying. I knew that twilight movie reminded her of dad. I gave her a sad smile.

"Here." She tossed something green on my bed. I slowly walked over to it, confused. I picked It up and immediately frowned. I turned to my mom, and she gave me a bright smile. I groaned,

"A dress. Mom, I don't think I should dress up for this. High school. I don't want to be noticed." I heard a scoff behind mom. Thomas walked in and stood beside mom,

"You're gonna be noticed, if you like it it not. We both are. We're the new kids. And, it doesn't matter if humans are good or bad. The moment we step foot on school grounds, they'll judge our appearance. Luckily, our vamp gene has made our skin flawless. Our hair shiny. And, our teeth white." I rolled my eyes at my brother and looked back down at the dress.

"Usually Thomas is right. He knows everything about humans. So, I guess I'll wear the dress." It felt like those words were killing me, as I choked them out. Mom squealed and hugged me. I smiled and hugged her back. She pulled back and grabbed a strand of my hair,

"I'm going to tame these waves. When I come back that dress better be on, or else. Thomas, have you fed Marcus?" Thomas nodded, and mom smiled walking out the door. Marcus, is our dog. It use to be moms during her human years. When mom changed, she changed her dog.

I put on the dress, using my speed, and sat down on the bed. Thomas walked over and kneeled in front of me,

"Remember. First impressions are everything. Be nice. Answer their questions nicely. Don't glare. Contain your fangs. And, don't be a bitch." I flinched at the word. I glared at him and he just smirked,

"You might want to practice now. Or else, it'll seem like you have something stuck in your ass. Everyday." He laughed as I threw my pillow at him. He quickly walked out, and mom walked in. She smiled,

"Oh, my little girl is growing up. You look so beautiful." I blushed and mom pushed me in a chair. She started working on my hair. I started playing with my fingers.

"Mom?" I questioned, fidgeting slightly. Mom made a noise telling me to continue, "Do you think that this is best? And, that I'll do good. In an human high school?" I asked, and mom nodded. She stood in front of me,

"Yes, and yes. This is best, you need to learn to love humans. They changed, and remember that I use to be a human. And, you'll do good. You were taught self-control a long time ago. Just, go easy on them." I nodded and she gave me a bright smile,

"Good! I'm done. Now go downstairs and join your brother." I nodded, and y walked downstairs. Not caring enough about my appearance to look into a mirror. I'm doing this for mom. I chanted in my head.

When I made it downstairs, I noticed Thomas sitting at the head of the table. He was eating pancakes, covered in animal blood. We can eat human food. But, blood just makes it taste better. I know mom didn't pack any blood into our 'lunches'. What would we tell the humans? Oh, it's just ketchup.

I sat beside my brother, and mom joined us. After breakfast mom handed us our lunches, and kissed us both on the cheek. She handed Thomas the keys and gave him a stern look,

"Crash it, and you guys are taking the bus." He nodded and mom smiled, "Take care of your sister." He nodded again. And, we were on our way out. The moment we walked outside, I smelled humans. I looked across the street to see two guys, standing by some expensive looking car. With my super hearing, I could hear them.
