Chapter Thirteen:

An annoying beeping sound startled me out of my troubled dream. Great, I moaned, another day of school. How lucky am I. I perked up as soon as I realized that Bradin and I had a new found friendship so I had something to look forward to at school…Getting to know him! For some reason that thought placed a permanent grin on my face.

Getting ready I picked out a cute black shirt and looked for some jeans to match. It’s so hard to find jeans that fit me, my 5’2 frame makes it impossible for my jeans not to drag on the ground!  Finally finding a pair I liked I threw those on and rushed to pull up my hair. Today is a bad hair day; my hair does not want to go up without all these frizzy pieces coming out. Getting irritated and running late I just decided to leave it down. Grabbing my bag and phone I noticed I had a new message, flipping it open I read the message from Kyrie. Awesome, she’s riding with Riley so I can just leave and pray that I make it before the warning bell. Looking at the time, my heart stopped, how on earth did I wake up so late?! I have ten minutes to get to school.

Rushing out of the house and into the car I sped to school getting there just as the first warning bell went off. Great, I thought as I made my way to English class, it’s going to be one of those days today.

Finding my seat next to Bradin and Jace I threw my books on the desk and plopped down into the chair, laying my head on my arms.

I felt a constant poke in my side, “Hey Princess!” Bradin’s overly cheerful voice interrupted my peace and quiet.

Lifting my head up I sighed contently, “At least someone got up in a good mood. I woke up late so therefore it’s already a crappy day.”

“Maybe you should get more sleep then silly, and then you wouldn’t wake up so late!” Jace’s voice held a hint of laughter. He leaned over my shoulder whispering, “Thank you for talking to him, I can see he is a lot happier now.”

“You’re welcome; it wasn’t a problem at all.” I whispered back just as Mrs. Henderson came stomping in, a scowl on her face.

“Your essays have been graded and I just have to say I’m not all too impressed with some of your work, especially you Mr. Stanifer. In order to pass this class you do have to read the book in order to do the essay. Not just make up things. Now you are getting your essays back today and for the remainder of the period look over them, and decide if you want to correct the mistakes and turn it back in for a higher grade.” She announced as she began to hand back our essays. “And please remember you have the rest of this week to study for your final exams on Thursday. So take the time to study if you want to graduate.”

Jace blushed at the mention of his name, “Man I thought she would pass me.”

Remembering what he said last week, I giggled quietly, “Apparently your good looks didn’t work this time sweetheart. I think old Mrs. Henderson prefers boys a little bit older.”

Bradin chuckled, “I’m sure she does. I can’t believe we are graduating Friday. You guys ready to take final exams on Wednesday and Thursday?”

Shocked I shook my head, “We are graduating Friday? No way! I’ve completely forgotten. How can I forget graduation…I haven’t even studied. I am going to fail Algebra for sure!”

“What day is your Algebra exam on? I could help you study if you would like?”

“It’s on Wednesday, and that would be great Bray, if you would help me!”

“Alright then, we can go to the library at lunch and start and then we can study more after school, my place or yours?”

I sat lost in thought for a minute, looking up once I stopped pondering I saw confusion written all over Bradin’s face, “Sorry, was daydreaming about red bull, anyways, I think my place since it’s closer.”
