Chapter Ten:

“…I think that I-“

My whole body was shaking, “Hey Gabriella, earth to Gabs, we are here,” Cayden’s soft voice whispered into my ear, “Wake up.”

I blinked a few times, confusion coursing through me. That was all a dream? It felt so real. Every touch, every word, it felt like it was really happening. It couldn’t have been a dream, could it? When did I fall asleep? Still in a daze I mumbled, “Where are we? How long have I been asleep?”

He chuckled and took my hand pulling me out of the passenger’s seat, “You fell asleep shortly after I pulled out of that dudes driveway and onto the highway. We are in LA, It took about forty-five minutes to get here, and you’ve been asleep the whole way. We are at my favorite place, Starlight, It’s a club where a lot of my friends go and it’s always packed. I figured it would be a lot more fun than that high school party.”

Is he serious? I guess I really was dreaming. Of course he would take me to a club. He pulled me behind him as he nodded to the security guard and led me inside. I wanted to turn back around and leave as soon as I saw how packed it was and how loud the music was. It was already beginning to give me a head ache and I still wasn’t aware of what was going on, still groggy from just waking up.

“Hey yous made it Cayden!” Slurred a guy I recognized as a member of Broken Roads, I wasn’t sure of his name. He stumbled over and slung his arms around both Cayden and I, “And who is this fine young lady friend you have here?”

I could smell the alcohol on him and it took everything I had not to puke right then. Cayden just chuckled and gave him a cocky grin, “This, my friend, is Gabriella Smith.”

“Gabriella! Nice to meet you, I’m Lucas but you can call me hot stuff,” He winked and attempted to give me a kiss on the cheek but missed and kissed my ear instead.

Wiping off his spit, I turned to Cayden for help and saw that he was no longer next to me. I looked around but the place was so packed I couldn’t see him anywhere. Panic spread through me as I began to worry about what to do and how to find him and get away from Lucas, I think he said his name was, who was now trying to grind on me.

“Come on baby, let loose and have some fun!”

I shoved him off of me, “Get off of me and leave me alone.” I turned on my heel and stomped off, getting angrier by the minute. Where the hell is Cayden?

“Well looks like someone is in a bad mood. Lucas bothering you?”

I turned around and saw a pair of intense blue eyes staring me down, “Yes, if he is a friend of yours please put him on a leash. I’m trying to find my friend so I can get out of this nuthouse.”

The mystery man pulled me out of the packed area and led me over to a corner where only a few people lingered. “Sorry about him, he’s always like this when he’s drunk. I’m Taylor by the way. Now who is this friend you are looking for? Maybe I can help you?”

I tapped my foot impatiently while I scanned the room still searching for Cayden, “His name is Cayden, and he’s kind of tall and has brownish blonde hair? If that helps any…”

“Cayden McDaniel? Is that who you are looking for?”

“Yes do you know him? Please say you know where he is!”

“I know him quite well in fact, and just a few minutes ago I saw him by the bar, let’s go see if he is still there.” He took a hold of my hand and lightly pulled me along behind him making his way to the bar. He was careful to keep me behind him so I wouldn’t get lost or trampled on. When we finally got to the bar Cayden was nowhere in sight.
