Chapter Four:

"Wake up Gabriella!" Someone was shaking me. I groaned rolling over getting temporarily blinded by the sun to look at the time, ten in the freaking morning. Oh great. There goes my chance to sleep in till lunchtime, I thought as I looked over to see who would dare disturb my sleep.

"Kyrie, why so early, I enjoy my sleep, thank you." I moaned as I attempted to pull myself out of my warm bed.

She walked over to sit in my computer chair, "I couldn't sleep in for some reason so I figured I would bug you and make you go for a jog with me down the road and over to the strip with all the little shops so I can look for a new pair of shoes."

Groaning I stood up and started to rummage through my closet for something to wear. Deciding on a pair of shorts and an oversized school shirt I walked into the bathroom to change and threw my hair up in a ponytail. Walking back out, I sat down on my bed and threw on my tennis shoes. "Ok let's go before I decide to crawl back into my bed. After the jog to the strip I better get some kind of caffeine or I'll be mad and you’re paying since you decided to wake me up early." I smirked.

"Fine, fine, how about after we get to the strip I buy you your favorite Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks? Will I be forgiven then?" She glanced at me as she stood up and headed out my door.

Following behind her after grabbing my phone and keys I replied, "Make it a Venti and we are even."

We took off out the front door and jogged the 4 blocks down to the Strip. (The Strip was a street that had a bunch of different little shops, a Starbucks, a good will and a soup kitchen).  As we came to the beginning of the Strip, Kyrie ran into the Starbucks to grab our drinks while I sat down on the bench in front of it. Looking around I noticed half a block down there was a guy that looked a lot like Bradin walking into the soup kitchen. Before I could think about what he was doing there Kyrie bounced out with our drinks.

"Here you go ma'am. Enjoy! Now we can shoe shop!" She handed me my drink. "Hey isn't that Riley and Jace across the street?"

Looking across the street to where she was pointing I saw Riley and Jace standing outside the ice cream parlor. "Oh it is them. Wonder what they are up to?"

"I don't know. Let's go see."

"Why don't you go ahead, I want to go check out something real quick? I'll meet you guys in a few minutes." I stood up to head down to the soup kitchen to investigate.

"Alright, hurry up." I watched as she started to cross the street to meet up with the boys.

Getting to the front of the soup kitchen I peeked in the window and noticed that it was indeed Bradin. He was standing behind the counter making plates of food. I wonder why he is here. I thought to myself as I looked around for a worker to interrogate. Seeing one standing outside the front door I turned to her and asked innocently, "Excuse me Miss, but is that Bradin Fields?"

The worker turned to look at me, "Uh yes it is. May I ask why you’re asking?" She asked with one eyebrow raised.

After examining the older woman, I decided I would interrogate her further, "I am a friend from school. I thought it was him but wasn't sure. Does he work here now? I thought he worked for his uncle at the car shop?"

"Oh he comes here every weekend to help out. He is a really sweet boy. He loves to help hand out food and he is always striking up conversations with the patrons here." The older woman replied. "Well I better get back in there and start making some more pasta before we run out. Would you like to come in and say hi to your friend? You’re more than welcome to!"
