                               Purely Yours  ~ {Chapter Twenty-Six} ~

Walking out of the steamy shower, I towel dried my hair, cringing at the tangles of my naturally wavy hair. Working at the hot mess for a good ten minutes I finally gave up, almost throwing the brush onto my vanity as I plopped down face first onto my bed.

I groaned, knowing I couldn’t sleep yet with my wet hair so I made my way downstairs, feeling like I’ve neglected my book room long enough.

Opening the door to the small room I couldn’t help but grin at my shelves filled with books. There were so many that I’ve purchased but have never even had the chance to read them all. It’s official, I had a book buying problem.

Running my fingers over the spines of the books that same red spine caught my eye and I quickly slid it out from its place. Lord of the Flies.

I laughed. I haven’t even finished this one yet, I thought, remembering I had bought it as Xavier wouldn’t let me borrow it. I wonder if I asked him now if he would lend it to me.

Waving the thought away I turned off the main light, knowing even in the dark where my couch was as I switched on the bright lamp beside it.

Folding my legs to the side I leaned against the couch arm, opening the book to where my bookmark was and continued to read, enjoying the silence to myself.

Only ten minutes passed when I heard rain begin to pelt against the window and against the roof of the house. The sound was soothing, there was nothing better than reading a good book to the sound of rain.

A loud crack of thunder shattered that thought as I cowered in the couch. Yet on the other hand reading to a thunderstorm and being home alone was terrifying.

Just as I had that thought the door flew open and I screamed as I saw a dark silhouette in the doorway.

“Calm down it’s only me.”

My screams died at the sound of his voice as I relaxed into the couch, still shaking a little.

He stepped into the room, the light of the lamp slowly falling over him and I tried to calm my breathing.

Groaning I closed the book, rubbing at my arms as he crouched down in front of me.

Gradually meeting his eyes I was taken aback by the intensity of them, those dark blue eyes smouldering into mine. Glancing over his appearance I took in the damp hair, probably from the rain, and how I wanted to run my fingers through it like he seemed to have already done. I immediately clenched my hands into fists with that idea, blushing as I couldn’t help but admire how handsome he was with the soft rays of light that settled over him.

Just as another crack of thunder set off I jumped, my heart frightened just as he tugged at my hand and pulled me from the couch into his awaiting arms.

My eyes were wide as his arms curled protectively around me, placing his head deep within the crook of my neck as I just sat there with my arms hanging loosely. Despite how his clothes were slightly damp and that water droplets fell from his hair onto the bare skin of my neck, he was warm as I felt safe in his arms. Tingles shot through my skin as his body wrapped protectively around me, creating my own safe haven.
