Ocelot

It's a good life, being an ocelot. All we do is run around all day, being annoying to humans and eating all their fish. Even if by some miracle they manage to tame us, we don't really do anything. Except scare away creepers.

I remember a time when ocelots and creepers didn't hate each other. But a thousand years ago, long before minecraft was open to players, there was a great war between the creepers and the ocelots. Why? Both of us wanted to be tameable.

But at this time, ocelots were hostile. We could bite and scratch, and even explode like the creepers. Except we had the distinct advantage of not dying when we exploded. When the time came to battle it out, we completely obliterated the creepers. Only a few survived our war.

Unbenownest to the creepers, though, becoming tameable made us peaceful. We were no longer able to attack players and mobs (except for chickens, who are so weak we can just punch them with a paw). However, since the creepers didn't know about this change, they were still terrified of us. To this day, they still run away from us.

Yet now I'm fed up of this. I want to be able to say hi to a creeper, without it running away. Why can't we put our pasts behind us? Sure, we got off to a bad start, but now... there's nothing keeping us from being friends.

It's possible, and I know because one of my best friends was a creeper. When I was too young to understand anything about the blocky world around me, I met a creeper, also a baby. We became best friends, unaware of the fact that we were supposed to be mortal enemies.

Then came the day my parents found out I was best friends with a creeper. I cried for hours and hours that day, hiding in my tree. That was also when I realised that we were more than just friends. I loved him.

I haven't seen him since. But someday, I pray that I'll meet a creeper who doesn't run away from me. A creeper who will run up to me and hug me, who will feel joy instead of fear, who will smile instead of frown. I pray for peace.

Yet although this is what I hope for, deep down, I know that day will never come. The creepers envy us, but they also fear us. We'll never be able to coexist.

I suppose this is all stupid, anyway. So what if we can't live together? To be honest, it doesn't matter if the creepers like us or not. After all, who am I to complain? I'm just an ocelot. Nothing threatens me, and it's good that way. I guess it doesn't matter. I can just eat fish all day and annoy humans.
