Foster Brother chapter 5- Not Again

-Toni-

I woke up this morning with this horrible pain in my eye, that's when I remember what, happened last night. Keri was upset that I didn't want to have sex with him; I mean I was ready for that next step but he was so aggressive that it scared me. I told him I needed to go home, that's when he snapped and started hitting me. We didn't end up having sex, that's when he told me that he's been cheating on me for the longest time. I was a mess when I came home, but August was there for me. That's when I remember that we kissed last night, I feel so bad. I really didn't plan on that to happen, I just feel like crap. I have to tell my parents about Keri, I can't hide a black eye from them. I walked down stairs and I saw August at the table, he was eating a bagel. Tamar is also sitting with him, It sucks; I can't even look him in the face right now. I feel so bad for what I did last night; I could get him into so much trouble

"Morning August, Morning Tamar" I said as I sat down

"Mornin Toni" August said as he took a sip of juice

I was about to say something else but that's when my parents walked in. my heart dropped because I know it was obvious that something was wrong.

"Toni, baby you will be late if you don't hurry and get dressed" My mom said as she rested her hand on my shoulder

"I.... I don't feel too good. I'm not going to school today"

I heard a car horn and it was Tamar's ride, she left and I knew it would be easier to tell them once everyone left. After Tamar left Aaron picked up August, before he left he told me everything would be fine. I did not know what he meant by that but the thought scared me.

"Mom, Dad, I was with Keri last night. We were gonna do something last night, I wasn't comfortable with it and Keri got upset and he hit me" I pulled off the glasses and exposed my black eye

"Toni, I'm going to call the police. Then I'm going to go over to the school and pay Keri a visit You are never going to see him again, he is never coming around you again" My dad said getting a closer look at my eye

"Don't do that dad, I already told him to stay out of my life. I just wanna stay here and not forget about Keri"

"I'm sorry this happened to you baby. I know August has had issues with Keri in the past; August is very protective of you so I have noticed. Will August try and do anything to hurt Keri?" my mom asked

"He may try but I know he doesn't want to get into any trouble, I doubt he'll do anything to him in school. I just need some ice for my eye and then I am going to go back to bed"

"Alright, Toni, but we are not finished talking about this" My dad said.

I got the ice pack and I went to my room. I wanted to text Janet, but I knew she was going to rub it in that I should have listened to her. Honestly, the only person I want around me right now is August; he was so sweet last night. I'm blessed to have him in my life now; I hope we will stay this way.

It's already 3rd period and I still haven't seen Toni, I caught Keri in the hallway and he said she's not his problem anymore. I saw August talking to the school thot, so I took his hand and I pulled him to the side.

"Where is my friend and why isn't she at school today?" I asked him

"You could ask nicer, but you need to call her up and let her tell you. Janet, I care for Toni, she will be my sister in a few months and I'm sure she would like it if we tried to be friends. I have no bad blood with you. You have a problem with me, I aint even do anything. Let's get along for Toni's sake. What's your real issue with me Janet?"
