It took a lot of willpower to wake up the next day. I rubbed my eyes. Today was school, wasn't it? I sat up in bed. The events of this weekend repeated in my mind. I really didn't want to go, but I knew that Dad would do everything in his power to make me. Sighing, I got out of bed and began to get ready for my day.

On my way dragging myself to the bathroom, I tripped over something and fell on the ground. My nose started to throb.

"What the hell was-" I turned around. When I finally recognized what it was, my heart sank. There, lying on the ground, was a sleek, black cat. It bled profusely from many cuts and injuries. There was a glassy look in its violent eyes. I immediately picked it up and took it back to my bed.

"Hold on, let me get my first aid kit," I told her. The cat nodded. I hurried out of my room and over to the medicine closet in the hallway. It took a lot of time and effort to search through the clutter of items before I found the box of supplies. But once I did, someone else walked into the hallway.

"What are you doing?" he inquired. I slowly spun around. Dad stood there, staring me down. I couldn't just tell him I was bandaging a cat. He would tell me to get rid of it immediately. I bit my lip, trying to come up with an excuse. Eventually, I did.

"Oh, um, I was just...." I thought for a while. "Getting bandages for myself. You see, I was picking out what to wear when I accidentally cut myself on... my belt. Clothing these days. Well I should go probably tend to my wounds." I was about to walk off when Dad grabbed me by the arm. I looked back at him. He stared at me with his piercing blue eyes.

"Gina, I'm sorry I've been so hard on you. I've just been so worried about you, with you being a vampire and everything," he said. I turned my face away.

"Stop, Dad. It's fine." I yanked my arm out of his hold. And without another word, I sauntered into my bedroom. Maybe I was a little too cold to him, but I had my priorities.

The moment I came in, my heart nearly exploded. Ellie was looking out the window and she was human. And naked. I'd never quite noticed her olive complexion and curvy body until now, so when I saw her I was amazed. Her violet hair was brushed back and cuts were still scattered across her body. But the one thing I paid the most attention to was her hips. There, just above her hipbone, was a tattoo. It was an eye, similar to that of Egyptian culture. The outside of the iris was red and as it got closer to the middle it transitioned through the colors of the rainbow. I couldn't help but stare at it.

"Is there something you're searching for?" Ellie suddenly asked. I looked up at her. Her eyes dazzled in the sunlight. I couldn't help but blush. Damn it, why was she so beautiful? It took a while for me to collect my thoughts.

"What's the tattoo of?" I finally spoke. Ellie twisted her hip so that she could see what I was talking about. When she spotted it, she smiled.

"Oh, that. It's a symbol that represents witches. This was burned onto us as a way to initiate us, along with saying this mantra." Ellie started biting her thumb nail. "What was it again? Something like vide occultum esse absconditos."

"See the hidden, be the hidden," I said. Ellie turned completely around. A grin formed on her lips.

"Correct you are. I didn't know you were experienced in Latin." I shrugged.

"It just comes easily to me. I guess it's a vampire thing." She nodded her head.

"Not just vampires. Latin is the language of the forgotten and the unknown." After that was silence. The two of us just stood there awkwardly, waiting for the other to say something. Eventually, Ellie smirked.

"So in the end, you were just staring at my butt-"

"Ellie!"

During the time that Ellie was getting herself dressed, I showered. As the cold, hard water pattered on my skin, I thought about how I found her. What happened to her? Why was she so injured? I stopped the water immediately. It was time to get some answers.
