I scribbled a note to my Grandma,

Sorry, had to leave be back soon.

and drove to the hospital,

"Hi. What room is Chris-" The women at the front desk cut me off,

"Down the hall first door to the right."

"Uh. Thanks."

First door to the right.

First door to the right.

I found it!

I burst into the hospital room,

"Hey." I said breathless, "Chris. Are you all right?" Then I realized his whole family was there, staring at me. Chris was propped up on a stack of pillows,

"Margo. You're here. Finally. I mean, can you guys give us a moment?" He nodded to his family, they all filed out, with there eyes on me, "Margo c'mere." I walked over to Chris, in my bunny pajama pants, and Ugg boots,

"Are you okay?" I whispered, Chris ignored the question,

"I need you to promise me something." I nodded, "Before I die."

"You're not going to die, Chris."

"Before I die." He continued, "I need you to promise me that you're not going to kill yourself after I'm gone." My eyes filled with tears, "You can't just kill yourself after something bad happens, Buttercup."

"Chris." I said tearfully,

"Buttercup. You're going to have a life after me. You're going to have a husband and kids. Without me. You're going to have a future."

"I don't want a future without you, anonymous." I said softly. Chris simply shook his head,

"Remember what I said, Buttercup, there will always be someone who loves you, in the future, in past, or the present." He paused and looked me in the eyes, "I will love you. Always."
