Girls POV.
Knock on door.

I sighed and got off the couch, and opened the door,

"Chris?" Standing in the doorway with a cluster of buttercups stood Chris. I pushed my hair behind my ear, and shut the door, leaving just me and Chris standing on the porch, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry, Buttercup." He sighed, "I should've told you."

"Shouldn't you be in the hospital?" I said, ignoring the subject,

"I just got released." He rubbed his arm sheepishly, "I'm supposed to be at home, but uh you know I didn't want you to be mad at me."

"Why are you here, Chris?" I asked softly,

"Butter...Margo" he corrected himself, "When I first saw you in the cafeteria the first think I honestly thought was, 'wow she's hot.'"

"Way to ruin the moment." I mumbled,

"Lemme finish. When I first saw you I thought, 'wow she's hot. I love her black hair and green eyes."

"I get that from my dad." I whispered, shivering. Chris came up next to me, slung a arm over my shoulder, and started rubbing my arm, he smelled like hospital, and cold air,

"I thought that at first." He continued, "But then you pushed up your black sweater, and saw cut marks up your arms, and then I thought 'why would a pretty girl like her be cutting?" His voice got softer as he went on, "Then I turned to Martha, and asked who you were, and I remember clearly, though this was months ago, she said with ugliest, bitchiest sneer ever, she said, 'Margo? That girl? She's a loner. You know they thought she was crazy, 'cause they found her in a field of buttercups, and you know what she did? She talked to them.' And I asked why you would do something so crazy like that,"

My eyes filled with embarrassed,  angry tears,

"My dad died th-that same year." I tried to explain myself,

"Buttercup." He sighed, and wiped a tear off my cheek, "I know. That's why I found your number, and decided I was going to help you. But there was so much I couldn't do, so much I didn't know, but, I was determined, so when I found out you drank bleach I was so mad at myself, for not helping you enough." He got angrier, "I didn't know you had a brother in the army, I didn't know your mother wasn't there for you." He laughed slightly, " And oh, I must've broken three laws trying to get you in the hospital, that's how I got in the car crash." My eyes widened,

"That was because of me?!"
I exclaimed, then quieter, "I just wanted my life to end. Not others. That car crash was because of me. I ended someone's life." I said in disbelief,

"No. It wasn't your fault. If I didn't run a red light, and waited 30 more seconds it wouldn't of happened." Tears were streaming down my cheek,

"What's the point of telling me this, Chris?!" I said, stricken, and mad,

"The point is, that people out there love you, whether it's now, or in the future. There will be someone out there, it could be a stranger like me, or maybe a family member. So don't kill yourself, Margo! Don't do it."

I looked at Chris directly in his hazel eyes, he wanted to help me. He cares about me. He loves me. And with that I kissed him hard on the lips,

"Thank you." I whispered.
