~ Chapter 25 ~

“Hello. We’re here to see Tom Severs,” Lexi said to the receptionist sitting at the front desk of the hospital. She was a fat but short woman, so short that the desk only came up to the tip of her nose. Abnormally obtuse, it looked as if she only ever stood up to use the bathroom.

“Tom Severs...” the lady mumbled shuffling through a stack of papers, “ah, here it is. He’s in room 310.”

“Thank you,” Lexi replied giving her a disgusted face when she wasn’t looking. Heading towards the elevator, I held onto Logan’s hand while following Lexi, Alex walking next to her. It was at the end of a long hallway filled with doors that most likely led to doctors’ offices.  Lexi pushed the elevator button and the doors opened. We all stepped inside, but I accidentally stepped on Logan’s foot. He winced softly and I smiled sheepishly up at him. He gave me a small smile shaking his head as the doors closed with an annoying ring.

Everyone waited in the elevator in silence while creepy kiddie music played in the background. It reminded me of clowns and the circus for some odd reason. After a long three minutes, the doors opened and we all stepped outside. There was a sign on the wall saying rooms 300 to 350 were on the left while rooms 351 to 399 were on the right. We made our way to the left before stopping in front of room 310. Logan squeezed my hand gently and gave me a soft smile. He’s just the sweetest; I have the best boyfriend ever. Half of me would feel empty without him here holding my hand.

I turned to Lexi and nodded. She slowly creaked the door open before stepping fully inside the dark room. The lights weren’t on so I made sure to stay quiet in case Tom was fast asleep. The blinds were closed, but there were still little cracks in it casting an eerie glow to the room. The hospital bed next to it had a huge bump under the covers with a tuff of brown hair.

“Tom? Are you awake?” Lexi whispered and gently shook Tom to wake him up. “What the-” she practically yelled pulling the sheets back. Underneath were two pillows and a brown wig on top.

“Tom?!” I called out. “Where the heck are you?”

“You better not be hiding in the bathroom cause if you are I swear I’m gonna shoot your foot!” she threatened. It would have seemed like a real threat only if she wasn’t smiling playfully.

When there was no answer Lexi kicked open the bathroom door. She put so much force into the kick that the bottom hinge broke off causing some debris to litter the floor. Alex and Lexi searched inside, but came up empty-handed. I looked nervously at Logan and he laid his hand against my cheek before planting a soft kiss on my forehead. He wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug as my worried tears soaked his shirt. I just stared at the wall not knowing what to say.

A loud bang reverberated throughout the room breaking my trance. Turning around, a table with two broken legs stood slanted on the ground. Lexi was towering over it, her face red with anger. I could almost see steam coming out of her ears.

“Lex! Why are you so angry? Calm down!” I commanded. She glared at me for a moment then let out a big breath to try to calm herself down. Alex went to stand next to her since he was standing in the corner of the room this whole time. He put his hand on her back rubbing it as in a reassuring manner. She closed her eyes while breathing in and out a few more times before she opened her eyes again.

Guilt obviously present in her eyes, “I’m so sorry Tori. I shouldn’t have lashed out, I was just thinking the worst and it got the best of me. I’m sorry to you too Logan,” she glanced over at Logan who was standing right behind me, “and Alex.”

She looked into his eyes before dropping her head in shame. What Alex did next is what makes me believe why Lexi and him are so perfect for each other. He slowly reached out as if to hug her, but then quickly started tickling her stomach and sides. Lexi’s head snapped up as she released a huge giggle and started squirming around in Alex’s arms. “So you forgive me?”
