"True, True Friends"

Today, I finally knew what it felt like,
To be a friend to someone else.

It's not about how long,
Not just about smiles,
Not just about happiness,
Not just about love,

It's of pain.
It's of sadness.
It's of tears.
It's of sorrow.

It's all of the things I'd choose--
I'd sell myself to borrow,
A little time to see her each day,
And life after tomorrow.

To feel what she felt,
To see what she's seen,
To know what she's thinking,
To laugh at her being,

To joke and to cry,
To smile and to frown,
True self, True tears,
True truth from ancient years.

No secrets, no lies--
White lies, screw them!
They're too minimal,
To even try...

To break what was strong,
To break what was unbreakable,
To hammer on pavements,
That has never been paved.

Today, I finally knew what it felt like,
To be a friend to someone else.

And, honestly?
It felt...great.
