BENTON HOME

I softly hum a melody as I slowly brush Jonny's dark shaggy brown hair with my fingers.

He slowly opens his eyes and looks at me. I stop humming and small smiles at him. I gently pulls my fingers away from his hair.

"Hola." I spoke in Spanish with a small smile.

"Hola back at you." Jonny said with a small smile. "How long have you been awake?"

"A few minutes." I told him. "Christine Avery is having a formal party at the Crimson Quinn Speakeasy later on this evening."

"Sounds like fun." Jonny said. And changes the subject. "Anything on Gabe Asher?"

"Knowing Gabe, he'll probably scheme something that will ruin a good day." I said.

"Yeah." Jonny said, gently gets up from bed. "I'll see you at Christine's party."

"Okay." I said, and gently sits up straight on the bed.

"And by the way, I like your wavy hair." Jonny complimented me with a small smile.

"Thanks." I thanked him with a small smile.

JEN'S DINER

I'm sitting at the diner counter with a plate of my usual pancakes with syrup, eating my pancakes with a fork.

The diner opens and closes. And I sense an uneasy vibe from something or someone.

Gabe Asher slowly walks up next to me and looks at Jen.

"Hello, Jen." Gabe greeted her in his British accent with a small polite smile. "I would like to have my usual smoothie, please?"

"Your banana smoothie is coming right up." Jen said, and walks away.

Gabe then, looks at me. "Hello, Violet." He greeted me. "What a beautiful day is it not?"

I look at him. "Small talk? Really, Gabe?"

"Of course, it's a way to start a conversation." said Gabe.

"You should leave town, there's nothing for you here in Arrington." I tell him.

"Why would I leave Arrington? It has an odd reputation, does it not?" Gabe said.
