Chapter 73: Road to Mistral

Y/N's POV 

???: Can't believe he sent you to come with me. 
She growled as I looked at her, holding a rope as a pair of arms was wrapped around my chest. 

???: Why did you have to come huh? I've been to Mistral without any help. 
She growled louder as I continue to look at her. 

"Not like I had a choice Amber." 
I replied as she turned towards me, her hateful eyes glaring into mine as we rode along the empty road. 

Amber: What do you plan on doing huh? Killing me and taking my powers? 
She asked sarcastically as I heard her gasp. 

???: What? 
Another voice asked as the two of us glared at each other. Her hateful eyes staring at me as she clenched her rope tightly. 

Amber: I should have gone alone. I don't need the likes of you with me. 

"Nor do I want to be here. But not like I have a choice." 
I retorted as I continued to ride with her. 

???: Y/N? Why are we out here? I don't understand why Ozpin told me to come with you two. 
She asked once more as I sighed. 

"I don't know Pyrrha. I don't know why you and I were sent out here." 

Flashback 

Ozpin: I want you and Ms Nikos to go with Amber to Mistral. 

"Why are you sending us with her?" 
I asked, feeling her eyes glaring at me. 

Ozpin: Can't risk losing Amber to those out there. 

"Grimm? The Mistralians deal with them fairly well enough." 

Ozpin: Yes but you can't be too sure. 
He said, his hands clasped together as he stared at me. 

"What else could be out there then just grimm."

Ozpin: Mr L/N, I'm sure you know the answer to your question. 

Flashback Ends 

  Pyrrha: I don't understand why he sent me out here. Do you know why he sent me out here? 
She asked me as I looked up the road. Seeing nothing but an empty road as the two of us strode down it. 

Flashback 

Ozpin: You must already know that her followers are still around. 

"So that's why you're sending me out there." 
I answered him as he nodded. 

Ozpin: Yes. You've worked with them before. You must know how they operate. 

"They were mere puppets. If I wanted something done, I'd use them for my bidding." 

Ozpin: Then you already know why I'm sending you with the fall maiden. 

"And why Pyrrha?" 

Ozpin: If anything happens to Amber, Nikos would the next.
He said as I glared at him. 

"You would make Pyrrha take everything Amber has?" 
I glared at him, clenching my fist. 

Ozpin: If anything happens, it would be safer with Ms Nikos. 

"If anything happens. You know they are out there. What are you planning." 
I growled, gripping the ends of his desk as I glared at him. 

Ozpin: I want you to clean up the mess you have. Can't have them running around and causing problems between Mistral and Vale. 

Flashback Ends 

Amber: Hurry up! It's getting dark out. 
She yelled as I followed her down the road. 

Pyrrha: Where are we going to sleep at? 
She asked as I felt her arms tighten up around my chest. 

"Looks like we're going to be sleeping out here." 
I answered her as I felt her arms tightened up more. 

Pyrrha: O-Out here? 
She asked with hints of fear. 

"What's wrong? Haven't camped out here?" 
I asked as Amber stopped by a large tree. 

Pyrrha: I-I I've never camped out here in the woods. 
She said as I climbed off of my horse. 

"It's not too bad." 
I said, grabbing a bag as Amber sat down against a tree. 

Pyrrha: I-I thought we were heading for Mistral. 
She said, still sitting on the horse as I laid the bag on the ground. 

"We are. Can't go throughout the night though." 
I answered her as she looked at me wearily. 

Pyrrha: Why can't we? 

"More grimm tend to show up around here." 
I answered before standing up. 

Third Person POV 

Y/N: I'm going to get wood. 
He said before leaving the site as Pyrrha slowly climbed off her horse. 

Amber: Never been out of the city I see. 
She said, continuing to lay against the tree. 

Pyrrha: Never camped out here...

Amber: It won't be so bad. 
She said with a small smile. 

Amber: Sit. Grimm won't be showing up around here for a while. 
She answered as Pyrrha slowly sat down by another tree. 

Pyrrha: May I ask? Why do you hate Y/N so much? 
She asked as Amber remained silent. 

Pyrrha: I'm sorry. I shouldn't ask. 
She said before turning away from her, hugging herself as her teeth chittered. 

Pyrrha: It's cold. 
She muttered to herself as Amber looked at her. 

Y/N: I'm back. 
He said, walking back with an handful of wood. 

Pyrrha: I was starting to get cold. 
She said as Y/N placed the wood in a pile in front of the trees before drawing a circle in the dirt. 

Pyrrha: What are you doing? 

Y/N: Just making sure the fire doesn't spread. 
He said before looking at Amber. 

Y/N: Fire? 
He asked as Amber rolled her eyes before placing her hand on the wood, causing it to go inflames. 

Y/N: Thank you. 
He said as Amber laid on her sleeping bag. 

Pyrrha: Thanks Y/N. 
She said, smiling at him. 

Y/N: You're welcome. 
He said before climbing up the large tree as Pyrrha watched him. 

Pyrrha: Aren't you going to sleep down here by the fire? 

Y/N: I'm fine. Go ahead and get some sleep. We have a long way to go tomorrow. 
He said as Pyrrha slowly nodded before laying in her sleeping bag. 

Y/N's POV 

"Just like old times." 
I thought to myself, looking at Pyrrha. The fire's light reflecting off of her scarlet red hair as she cuddled in sleeping bag. 

"Why her?" 
I thought to myself as I looked at Pyrrha before looking at Amber. 

"Why put Pyrrha in that position Ozpin." 

"Why would you put that pressure on Pyrrha."
