S2 Episode 6: The Assassin

Our episode opens up in space with a pod leaving a planet, said pod flying past a familiar looking ship: none other than Q'Rell's ship, the Night Hunter, with Q'Rell (the bounty hunter from the season 1 episode Thrill of the Hunt, remember him?) sitting in the cockpit watching the pod from the ship's computer, saying "Target acquired. deploying tracker" deploying a tracking device that attaches to the pod as it flies through space. we see a masked woman sharpening her swords sitting in the seat next to him, asking "so what's this assassination job about again Q'Rell?" Q'Rell then tells her "Our employer hired us to kill a child. the prince of Druel" the woman is shocked, saying "A child? Isn't that a little extreme?" Q'Rell then tells her "Do you not want to get paid?" she only responds with "no" We then cut to Sector 51 HQ where we see an agent with a pair of binoculars spot the pod crash in the desert outside HQ before contacting Commander Epsilon, informing him that a UFO has crashed right outside Groom Lake. Epsilon sarcastically says "sounds like a typical Tuesday around here" as we cut to Sector 51 vehicles arriving at the scene of the crash, soldiers hopping out of the vehicles to aim their guns while Commander Epsilon stares intensely waiting for whatever dangerous alien may burst out, only for a small blue-skinned alien child to step out much to the shock of Epsilon who exclaims "I don't believe it... he's just a kid!"  the alien child speaks, saying "lay down your arms, for I am Prince Ovi of the planet Druel! I come in peace!" Epsilon is taken aback by this, exclaiming "Prince? Alpha might want to hear about this" prompting the soldiers to lower their weapons. we then cut to Epsilon and his soldiers escorting Prince Ovi into the base, Delta asking who the kid is. Epsilon tells him "me and the boys found him inside a crashed alien pod outside, says he's the prince of Druel" Delta asks him "why did Druel send their prince here of all places?" Epsilon tells him "that's why we're taking him to Alpha, to get some answers out of the brat" Epsilon and Delta bring Prince Ovi into the communication chamber where the anonymous Alpha asks the two agents what brings them here. Prince Ovi then speaks "I assume you are the leader of this planet's sector. my name is Ovi, prince of Druel, and I am in grave danger" Ovi pulls out a hologram projector that projects an image of Prince Duvaal. Ovi continues, saying "My uncle, Prince Duvaal, has staged a coup against my father's kingdom and wants to kill me, my caretakers sent me to this backwater planet for my own safety" this concerns Alpha, who says "The Council of Planets informed me of great civil unrest on the planet Druel, your highness. but we had no idea things were this severe" Prince Ovi continues, switching the image in the projector to one of Q'Rell and the masked female assassin saying "It's worse than that, my uncle has hired a pair of bounty hunters to this planet to kill me on his behalf, they most likely followed me here. I hereby request your planet's sector offer me protection until then" Epsilon says "That's Q'Rell, we tussled with that guy before. don't worry kid, me and the soldiers I command are trained to fight against dangerous aliens" Delta then says "Hold it Epsilon, let Alpha speak" Alpha then says "Thank you Delta, I give the task of protecting the young prince to you and our secret weapon, Lena Sullivan" Epsilon rolling his eyes while saying "You gotta be kidding me..." Delta then says "Don't worry, he'll be fine until Alpha can page the Druel system to get his caretakers to come take him home" all the while Ovi has a worried look on his face. we then cut to the (cloaked) Night Hunter landing in front of the crashed pod. Q'Rell and his masked female partner exit the vessel and examine their surroundings, the woman saying "Earth, haven't been on this rock in a while" Q'Rell then removes the tracking device and says "The kid couldn't have gone far from here. luckily I have some friends who can track his scent. Gog! Magog!" Q'Rell snaps his fingers summoning a pair of Kelvinian Quasar hounds (Poochie's species) who exit the Night Hunter to sniff the alien pod. we then cut back to Sector 51 HQ with Lena training with her energy shurikens, slicing apart dummies only for one to be flung towards Delta who shoots it apart with his laser pistol to protect a terrified prince Ovi, Delta saying "you still gotta work on your aim, kid" the half-Annunaki teenager apologizes, saying "oh sorry, Delta! who's the little guy?" Delta then says "This is prince Ovi of the planet Druel, he'll be staying with us for the time being" Lena then exclaims "so wait, you're an actual prince? like with a crown and everything?" Ovi then says "I was, but thanks to my evil uncle I now wear the mantle of king" both Lena and Delta are taken aback by this, and Ovi explains his backstory as we transition to a flashback scene on Druel showing Prince Duvaal storming the royal palace leading an army of followers in his coup against the royal family, Ovi explaining that his uncle Prince Duvaal was originally next-in-line for the throne, but that all changed when he (Ovi) was born. Duvaal grew jealous, and saw that he would be the one and only heir to the throne. we then see Duvaal stab Ovi's father King Druel through the heart with an energy sword while the palace caretakers carry 6-year-old Ovi to safety before putting him into a pod launching him into space. we then fade back to present day with Lena saying "family drama, been there done that kid" Delta then informs Lena that Q'Rell has been hired by the kid's uncle to kill him. Lena activates her fist constructs to crack her knuckles, saying "Q'Rell... I had a feeling that he'd be back to settle the score" Ovi asks her "you fought Q'Rell before?" Lena then says "Yeah he tried to kill me for sport once, had to fight out his pet Kibaron. let's just say it wasn't pretty" only for Poochie to snuggle up to Ovi freaking him out exclaiming "you have a Kelvinian quasar hound? those things are dangerous!" Lena then rubs Poochie's belly, telling him "not this one, this is Poochie. he's my pet" as Poochie licks Ovi in the face. we then cut to Gog and Magog sniffing around Sector 51 HQ only for Sector 51 soldiers to point their guns shouting "Intruders!" prompting Commander Epsilon to step onto the scene machine gun tonfas at the ready, firing a barrage of bullets at Gog and Magog who open their mouths sucking the bullets into their black hole mouths. the soldiers are also sucked into the black hole mouths of the two quasar hounds leaving Epsilon as the only one left until Q'Rell steps in and says "Gog, Magog, that's enough you two. I wanna finish this one myself" Epsilon gets back up and says "Q'Rell, seems like you got a couple of new pets since we last saw each other" Q'Rell then pets his two hounds and asks Epsilon "you like 'em? I acquired them for a reasonable price on Kelvin-B. their acute sense of smell has helped me better track down my prey, and they can smell you're hiding the prince in this here facility" Epsilon readies his tonfas saying "we at Sector 51 won't let you lay a finger on the kid" Q'Rell unsheathes his Kibaron fang-sword and chuckles, saying "that's cute, but his uncle has put a hefty bounty on the brat's head and I intend to get paid" the two then charge at each other and lock weapons while the quasar hounds run past them in pursuit of their quarry. we then cut to Poochie growling while Lena asks "what is it boy?" only for the two Quasar hounds to enter the room and growl back at Poochie. Lena is confused, asking "other Kelvinian quasar hounds?" meanwhile Ovi is terrified, exclaiming "they've found me! we need to get out of here!" Lena exclaims "They?" Ovi then explains to her "My uncle hired two assassins to kill me" Lena exclaiming "great, Q'Rell has a partner now" Delta understands the seriousness of the situation and tells Lena to get the would-be king to safety while he and Poochie handle the hounds. Delta and Poochie double-team against Gog and Magog, Delta roundhouse-kicking Magog while Poochie bites Gog before the two can open their mouths and unleash the black hole, Delta sarcastically telling Poochie "good boy" before rushing through the hallways to see Epsilon being brutally beaten by Q'Rell, Delta shooting the sword out of the bounty hunter's hand with his twin laser pistols Epsilon thanking Delta for the save, the two double-teaming against Q'Rell who contacts his partner informing her that he's a little preoccupied, ordering her to go after the kid. Delta overhears this and turns around to go after Lena, knowing that his adoptive daughter is unknowingly walking into danger. meanwhile Lena and Ovi decide to hide inside Lena's room, Lena asking Ovi if he's okay. Ovi starts crying, saying "My father's dead and my planet is left without a proper ruler. I'm not ready to be a king, I'm just a kid!" Lena tries to calm him down saying "tell me about it, I was expected by Sector 51 to fight aliens when I was your size. Delta always told me that we can't choose fate, fate chooses us. he's kinda like my adopted dad" however this tender moment is interrupted by the masked female assassin cutting a hole in the ceiling and landing in front of Lena and Ovi, exclaiming "Alright prince, time to die!" as she raises her twin swords ready to strike him down, only for Delta to enter the room and point his twin pistols at her, saying "alright assassin lady, step away from the kid and I'll let you escape with your life" she then turns around and slices the barrels off Delta's guns with her swords. Delta cocks his head and cracks his knuckles, telling her "funny, If I didn't know any better I'd say those swords of yours look awful familiar" the assassin responds with "good to see you still remember me after all these years, Delta" and retracts her mask revealing it to be a female Virdian from Delta's past, Delta in disbelief exclaiming "Theta?" Epsilon sees this revelation while holding off Q'Rell in the hallway outside and is just as shocked as Delta, exclaiming "I don't believe it!" Lena exclaims "Delta, you know this chick?" Delta then says "she and I go way back, we were partners in Sector 51" Theta then says "more than partners actually" Lena exclaiming "she's your ex? ew" Delta tells her "Lena, get Ovi out of here" Lena understands the seriousness of the situation and grabs Ovi's hand telling him "come on your highness, time to save your life" sneaking off with him to hop on her hoverboard, grabbing Poochie before exiting Sector 51 HQ. Q'Rell then tosses Epsilon aside and tells Theta "what are you sitting there chit-chatting about, we need to go after the prince!" Theta then says "on it!" retreating with Q'Rell back into the Night Hunter which takes off into the sky, the two getting a call from Prince Duvaal who asks the two why they haven't killed the young prince yet. Q'Rell informs Duvaal that he and his partner were thwarted by a half-annunaki Starchild that he had a run-in with once before, with Theta saying "And she was helped by an old face from my past" Duvaal responds with "you two better kill him soon, my spot on the throne can't wait any longer" Q'Rell asks Theta why she never told him about her history with Sector 51, and she simply replies with "It's a chapter of my life I didn't want to look back on, I don't expect you to understand" Q'Rell snarling at Theta while he strokes the fur of Gog and Magog. we then cut to Lena sitting with Ovi in the park on the swings, Lena comforting the alien child telling him "I know this is a lot to take in, it is for me too. I had no idea that Delta's ex-girlfriend was helping Q'rell hunt you down" while she throws a ball to Poochie who catches it in his black hole mouth before spitting it back out, Ovi looking up into the night sky saying "your planet is really beautiful you know, from the short time I've been here at least. maybe once this is all said and done, I can come back and visit someday" Lena smiles, telling him "I'm sure you will be a kind and benevolent king". Delta then shows up and sits next to Lena and Ovi with Delta telling her "you probably have a lot of questions right now" Lena snarkily responds with "like what, that crazy evil ex of yours that you never told me about?" Delta replies with "Theta isn't crazy or evil she's complicated. I should probably tell you the full story" we then cut to a flashback scene showing a young Delta, Epsilon, and Theta when they were still rookie cadets in Sector 51, Delta's narration explaining that he and Theta trained together under Sigma when he first joined the organization, showing Sigma pummeling Delta during combat Training prompting Theta to rush in to protect him only to get pummeled by Sigma herself, Sigma scolding her for sticking up for that weakling Delta explaining that her attachment to him is a weakness that the enemy can exploit, Theta telling Delta not to listen to him. after a training montage of the trio of Delta, Epsilon, and Theta rising through the ranks we then jump to a couple years later with Delta and Theta training together with their weapons, Delta shooting targets with his laser pistols while Theta cuts apart practice dummies with her swords, Delta saying "It seems like swords are your thing while guns are mine" Theta smiles, saying "I guess so, you know you're pretty good too" young Delta blushes as the two look into each other's eyes, only for the duo to get teased by young Epsilon who exclaims "guess who just got promoted to field commander!" showing off his fancy new badge. Delta then says "really? that's amazing Epsilon!" all the while Theta looks away with a sad look on her face. Delta then asks "what's wrong Theta? this is a cause for celebration! you should be happy for him!" Theta sheathes her retractable swords and tells Delta "I've decided that the life of a Sector 51 agent isn't for me. I'm resigning" Delta then asks her "but why Theta? Theta?" Theta ignores him and walks away, closing the doors on both Delta and Epsilon on her way out. back in the present Delta tells Lena "I never saw Theta again after that, until today" Lena then says "That still doesn't explain why she's working with Q'Rell though" while little Ovi is busy playing with Poochie who licks the alien child in the face. however Lena spots Q'Rell pointing his laser rifle at Ovi from atop the playground and blocks the laser blast with her force field followed by throwing her energy shurikens at the alien bounty hunter knocking him off his position, Q'Rell getting back up saying "It seems you've picked up some new skills since we last met, Starchild" Lena picks up Ovi holding him in one arm and activates her sword construct in the other arm and says "oh you have no idea" while Poochie growls at the bounty hunter with Q'Rell unsheathing his sword to lock blades with Lena, Delta then rushes in to protect Lena shooting at Q'rell with his twin laser pistols only for Theta to deflect the blasts with her swords to protect Q'rell. Theta watches Lena fighting Q'Rell to protect Ovi and asks her former partner "I admire the kid's fiery spirit, Is she yours Delta?" Delta tells her "She's adopted. why are you even working with this sicko anyway? you know killing a child is wrong Theta" Theta responds with "Because it'll get me a decent paycheck, that's why I became an assassin-for-hire after I left Sector 51. I finally have a job that suits my talents" Delta then locks weapons with Theta saying "If you dare think about hurting her, I won't hesitate to end you" Theta then tells her "That's the thing about kids, they become the center of your universe. which is why I never had a family, too compromising to my line of work. but no, I'm not gonna hurt her. I'm just here for prince Ovi" causing Ovi to shout "That's KING Ovi to you, lady!" Q'Rell smiles and kicks Lena down before grabbing Ovi by the back of his shirt, saying "King, eh? I'm sure your uncle will pay us extra once we kill you" Ovi then shakes his fists shouting "my royal subjects will have your head for this! Lena, help me!" Lena then gets back up and says "Let the kid go!" her eyes glowing a bright blue causing a cannon energy construct to materialize over her arm. Lena looks at her new construct and then says "oh you're in BIG trouble now!" firing a concentrated blast of energy that sends Q'Rell flying into Poochie's black hole mouth causing him to drop Ovi who thanks Lena for the save, however Lena has a hard time controlling her cannon construct as she can't stop the energy beam completely wrecking the playground as she flails her arm aimlessly forcing both Delta and Theta to get out the way of the explosion, Delta grabbing Ovi to get him out of there while Lena screams "Delta help! make it stop! make it stop!" Delta then tells her "just concentrate, like you do with your shurikens! maybe that'll help" Lena then closes her eyes and tries to concentrate causing the cannon construct to disappear, Lena saying "whew, don't think I'll be using that one again anytime soon" Poochie then pukes Q'Rell back up the bounty hunter covered in quasar hound saliva and too exhausted to move, Delta putting handcuffs on Q'Rell telling him "you're coming with us" while Ovi sticks his tongue out at the downed bounty hunter. however Theta suddenly grabs Ovi by the back of his shirt and holds one of her swords up to his neck, telling our heroes "Don't shoot me or the kid gets it!" in an act of desperation, Ovi too terrified to speak. Lena activates her fist constructs only for Delta to tell her to stand down, saying that he'll handle this. Delta then tries to reason with Theta, telling her "Come on Theta, let the kid go. make the right choice, for me. for us" Theta then snaps at Delta, exclaiming "you don't get it, do you? I quit Sector 51 because I saw them for the corrupt organization they truly are. they took away our names, our fingerprints, stripped us of all semblance of identity and reduced each and every one of us to just a codename. to Alpha we are all just cogs in a machine to be chewed up and spit out, expects us to all fall in line like his little soldiers. so tell me... why do you still fight for Sector 51?" Delta then gives her a simple response "Because we are planet Earth's first and only line of defense against alien anarchy, it's a cause I'm willing to die for" Theta laughs, saying "That's the Delta I remember" causing her to drop Ovi before walking up to Delta to kiss him on the lips, Lena covering little Ovi's eyes as her jaw drops. Delta is too flustered to notice Theta sneak off into the night as Epsilon and the troops arrive to escort the apprehended Q'Rell into the back of the truck while his ship the Night Hunter is confiscated by Sector 51 before any nearby civilians can spot it. Epsilon puts his hand on Delta's shoulder telling him "so Alpha told me Ovi's caretakers will be arriving to pick him up shortly, boy he was surprised to find out that one of our own had gone rogue and was working with Q'Rell. where is she anyway?" Delta then says "I don't know, she just vanished" much to Epsilon's confusion. we then cut to Sector 51 HQ where a handcuffed Q'Rell is being held in a cell alongside a muzzled Gog and Magog. meanwhile we see Ovi's caretakers arrive at HQ to pick him up, Ovi saying his goodbyes to Delta and Epsilon before giving Lena a goodbye hug, Lena telling him to take care and be a good king. we then see Ovi's caretakers carry the Druellian child into their spaceship and take off while our heroes watch and smile. meanwhile we cut to the other side of the universe where we see a pod dock into a different Druellian spacecraft, of which we see Theta exit from and enter the bridge where she is greeted by Prince Duvaal, Ovi's uncle. Duvaal asks her if she killed the child yet, wondering if she had gone soft. Theta then tells him "No your highness, our mission was compromised and Q'Rell was arrested by Sector 51 of Earth" Druel maintains his composure, saying "Fine then, I'll just take back the throne myself" as he unsheaths his energy sword ending our episode on a cliffhanger.
