Vegas summers

Soon after my 21st birthday, I hired a new photographer and we were getting ready for our biggest drop yet.
" ok so we have 5 new girl designs and we have 4 new guys "
I looked over the list then with my eyes still on the paper I said
" ok so everyone pick what you like what you're comfortable in there's enough for you all and then we'll go from there ok "
They all got in a line and one by one they grabbed what they wanted to try on
" ok so Sam you have the pink power one and then the set of the lava Kiki lava and the lavender sets beautiful you two"
They went off to change and the next three girls stepped forward
" ok Lilly with the mama blue one and the haze one perfect Maddie with the lucky stars set and then Brie with the spark one and the set awesome choices "
They went off and then the guys stepped up
" ok let's see Kelly with the lava shorts and haze shirts and the lavender shorts good Mic with the mama blue and spark shorts Miles with lucky stars shorts and haze too good "
I looked down marking things off and they stepped aside then I looked up and I was met with lavender hair, a septum ring, and a smirk
" Bax "
I whispered as I looked at him and he smiled
" hi Vegas "
I dropped the clipboard and hugged him and he hugged me back with the same intensity. I let go and so did he and I said
" right umm you picked the pink power shorts and top and Haze shorts along with the lavender top "
" Yeah "
He just kept smiling
" Bax you need to go get changed you can't just stand here all day "
" ugh fine "
He said and went into the changing rooms. When they all came back out we started the shoot and everyone was having fun. By the time the sun was setting it felt more like a hang-out than work and I could tell that they were having fun with it for once rather than being directed and in things that they don't like. I looked at the photos quickly
" ok everyone I think we have what we need the things you picked out are my gift to you thank you for being here today "
Everyone clapped and then after they collected their checks I went to get changed into the lavender one-piece. When I walked out of the changing room there was Bax
" hi "
I smiled at him and he returned it
" hey "
" I was just going to go for a quick surf would you like to join "
I made my way to the truck and got my board and he had his
" is that "
" yeah umm it's the board you made me I still love it "
He grabbed it and turned it looking at the fins and then we made our way to the water. The break didn't last long so we were sitting just floating in the water as the sun began to descend behind the water line almost gone
" so you stayed "
" Yeah "
He moved closer
" Bax I'm umm I'm happy you came today "
" yeah I saw an open slot that you posted about and "
" wait you follow the brand "
He smiled and looked down at his board and then back at me
" well I use Summers Instagram to look at your post "
" what "
I laughed and I lost my balance and fell into the water he was laughing at me so I flipped his board. We both grabbed onto my board and I just looked at him and I started to feel the sting of tears in my eyes
" I missed you "
" I missed you too "
After a moment we both got back on our boards and went back to shore.
" hey umm do you want to like go grab food "
" yes "

Bax pov
I was nervous to see her. I saw a post on her business profile about an open call for a photo shoot for her new line. I impulsively dyed my hair at 6 am a lavender color because it's what I had in the cabinet and washed-out green wouldn't look good. I tried to style it for an hour but I gave up it just looked the same.
" well here it goes mate nothing to lose and everything to gain "
I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror and then left to get to the beach. I was standing in the back of the group and when she finally saw me I could see that she was happy.

We met up two days later and it was like nothing changed. We went to all of the shops like we did when we first met and she brought some stuff and I couldn't tell she wasn't focused on the size and it made me proud of her in a way. I'm proud of her in general
" you know it might not count for much but I'm proud of you Vegas "
She stopped walking and looked up at me
" That means a lot, Bax "
Surf barked
" I'm happy you brought her "
" Careful or I'll think you like her more than me "
We just smiled like idiots for a moment
" no, but I'm serious you made a name for yourself and the way you did it you made swim whare and clothing for everyone and stuff they can be comfortable in and I know that means the world to you I can tell by the smile you have in every picture and every interview "
" oh no you've seen those videos "
I just smiled and we continued walking the streets.

Vegas pov
We found ourselves at a bar outside on the patio and I was only a few sips in on a fruity drink of some kind.
" you know it sounds crazy but I've been keeping up with your stuff this whole time I'm proud of you you've come so far placing first so often "
He smiled as he took a sip of his water
" I've been keeping an eye on yours too via Summers Instagram "
" wait so you're telling me that you've been low-key stocking me for the past 3 years "
" maybe "
He smiled and so did I and I'm kinda happy we can just admit that to each other
" Can I be real for a second "
" Yeah "
I looked at him took a breath then continued
" well I never stopped thinking about you and I don't know I just want to know if it's still there "
" you mean our love "
" Yeah "
I sat back in the chair a little and looked down sheepishly
" god YES "
" Really you're not messing with me right "
He grabbed my hands in his and looked me dead in the eye
" Kimberly I have never felt the way I do for you and in the past couple of years I have missed you so much and everything reminds me of you hell I've written your letters in my phone "
" Baxter you're still my Home Screen "
We just looked at one another and I said quietly
" I got the card tattooed the one that you wrote on the ace of hearts-"
He kissed me and it was a feeling like no other it was a feeling of finally coming home after a long time away.
