Bax pov
We were all at Aris just looking at the weather trying to pick a good training day and my phone started to ring
" oh it's Vegas "
" put it on speaker she'll help us decide "
Poppy said and so I did
" What's up Vegas "
She didn't talk all we could hear was a slapping sound and then cries of pain
" Kimberly "
I said loudly into the phone and nothing
" We need to go to her house now "
It was a blur as we drove there I kept the line open the whole drive just holding the phone to my ear. I heard every grunt and landed hit and I was starting to make an image in my mind of what we would find and as the seconds passed I was convinced she was dead. Before I knew it I was in the living room pulling her off him.

Vegas pov
I woke up before the rest because I was scared of being in a new place and all. I got up to get a drink and I saw Ari's dad in the back yard so I snuck out there
" morning mr Gibson "
" morning how are you feeling "
" ok I've survived worse "
He looked down at his hands and then back at me
" look I grew up with your dad "
" don't call him that "
" ok I grew up with Andy and I know how he can be when he's drunk and umm Kim this isn't ok what's he done it's against the law "
" I understand but sir please just listen ok "

We sat down and I told him everything that's happened to me in foster homes and such
" Now do you see why I just need everyone to leave it alone I'm working on making moves to get myself set up and safe and a full part of this country "
He looked at me
" fine fine but if I remember correctly his house isn't that far from here so when you need to get out of there just come here and we will let you in in fact we'll get you a key ok "

I hugged him and we made our way back into the house the door closed harder than intended and they all started to wake up.

Bax said in a nearly asleep voice and I sat down next to him when he sat up he instantly started to look at my face
" oh ok "
" right sorry "
He said as he moved forward a little and kissed my forehead gently. I tried to help Ari's mom make breakfast but she kept shooing me away
" please just let me help "
" no Kim one of the others can do that just go rest now "
I sat down next to Bax on the couch. I felt my hand gab and I heard a wince and I woke up I don't remember falling asleep

Bax grabbed his side I sat up and I covered my mouth
" I'm so sorry "
I could feel my eyes starting to well up
" no no, it's ok "
He pulled me back to him and just healed me for a moment then Ari's mom called for breakfast and we all talked about little things and everyone tried not to stare at me. Bax and I were sitting outside at the picnic table and I was drawing
" hey Vegas why did you kinda defend Andy "
" first of all, I did not defend him I protected myself "
" you're right I'm sorry "
" The reason I don't want the cops involved is because like I said the system I can't do that again and well in some messed up way if the cops get involved then I feel like- "
" but he could have killed you "
" that's true but he didn't I don't know what he looked like when you all got there but from how my hands feel I can tell I did something and that's another thing I think I'll get in trouble for fighting back "
I just went back to the drawing and I could feel him staring at me
" Bax can you just for now accept that this is how things are "

He signed and he got up and came to my side of the table and wrapped his arms around my solders and just put his chin in the top of my head.
" I think we need to get your head checked you're drawing a flower ... upside down "
" Bax look at your shirt "
He moved back and then said
" oh hey the flowers upside down "
" Maybe we should get your head checked "
He kissed me and then left me I said a silent thank you because I just needed some time alone.
