Vegas summers

When I woke up the house was quiet so I knew Summer hadn't come home yet then I looked over to my left and there he was, passed out his arms all over his side of the bed and I couldn't help laughing
" what "
He breathed and groaned as he put his face in the pillow and then looked at me
" good morning princess "
I teased and he smiled and then started to get up. I was sat there with the thick white comforter pooled around me and I said
" hey umm Baxter "
" oh shit what did I do I'm sorry "
I saw the panic flash in his eyes
" no umm I was kinda wondering if you'd go with me to see Andy today "
" what you don't like it here at Summers Boujee house "
He sat back down on the bed and I started to look everywhere but where he was
" no it's not that I am so so grateful that she let me stay but what happens when her mom comes back and wonders why I'm here and then I'd have to remember what all I told Summer so I don't slip up and then there's also that fact that I'm not a full resident so I could get sent back if he didn't want me back in the house and so I need to keep the peace "
He grabbed my hand and started to rub his thumb over my knuckles lightly
" Look I understand but you need to promise me that if anything happens no matter what time it is you'll call me and keep calling me till I pick up ok "
" yes I will "
I got ready and so did he and then I packed up my stuff and then we began the slow journey to Andy's. The whole way we didn't talk like we were figuring out what we would say to everything and anything that could come out of his mouth. When we were down the street I stopped and closed my eyes for a moment going back to how my mom would act when I came home after she had a bender and said hurtful things to me or hurt me.
" hey Vegas where did you go just then "
" back to my mom and what she would do and hoping that he's not the same "
" well you have me now and look at these guns "
He started to flex and make funny faces making me laugh
" ok ok you're right let's go ... hey can you wait outside I should do it on my own but I want you nearby ok "
" yeah I can do that "
When I walked in he was in the living room watching the news and I didn't see a drink near or smell it
" hi "
" oh hey kid I was wondering when you'd be back "
" Andy do you remember what you did "
" no not really but I'm sorry "
" ok so umm "
I started to get shaky hands thinking of all the ways that this question was answered in the past
" Can I come back "
" yes kid and look if I get like that it's best to just leave because I can't control what I do it's a mental thing the doctors say but I don't take the drugs and so sometimes it comes out like that and believe me I feel bad for what I do but I can't remember "
I just nodded  and went to my room putting my stuff down and then I went back out before the door closed Andy said
" take Surf with you she's yours now "
It didn't seem like there was any anger in his voice so I did and when I was back out Bax got up off the curb
" so how did it go "
" Good "
I know the confusion was painted on my face like a fresh slap because he said
" is that good or bad "
" It's umm great because he apologized in a way and then said that it's best to just leave for a while when he gets like that "
My phone started to ring and I saw Summer's face before I saw
"Hey Summer don't worry I'm ok I went back home "
" oh thank god I thought that Bax kidnaped you or something "
" no no, never I'm ok "
" ok good "
We said bye and hung up
