3rd Point Of View

That same night after Sukuna had left (Y/n) alone again, Uraume came outside to inform her that the Lord was hungry and has ordered her to cook him a meal. (Y/n) found it concerning how little the Lord's appetite was, having not asked her for a meal for the last two days. So (Y/n) became giddy at the opportunity to cook for him again. Sukuna's staff were still on recovery leave until tomorrow, which was when the cook would be back too and (Y/n) would not be able to cook for him anymore.

That night, (Y/n) spent a while making Sukuna dinner, having decided to leave this task behind with a loud bang. She cooked the Lord 'Peking roast duck', which was another amazing dish that she'd taken from Chinese cuisine.
"Here you are, my Lord." (Y/n) smiled as she walked into the main hall of the North wing, waking over to Sukuna to place down the tray on the table that sat infront of him.

Sukuna's brows raised when he took notice of the plated meal.
"Wow...If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you're trying to get me to fire my cook." Sukuna huffed with amusement, making (Y/n) giggle sheepishly as she stood straight, her arms falling to her sides, fiddling with her kimono.
"Who is your cook, my Lord?" The girl then asked curiously, wondering who had the job of creating all of the Lord's meals. He didn't eat much, so maybe she could convince the cook to make extra meals that she could deliver to him.

"I don't have a clue. He's male...I think- a member of the black uniformed staff." Sukuna told the girl, "His food is satisfactory- nothing like this, however." (Y/n) beamed with pride at the hidden praise, almost glossing over the fact that the Lord had no idea who cooked his meals. Maybe she could ask Uraume and find out. She'd love to talk to this man when he was back from recovery leave and possibly give him new recipes to cook the Lord.

"You know- I just realised..." Sukuna began slowly, in thought as he stared down at the meal infront of him.
"You said before that you were not a cook in China. If that's the case, then how is it you know all these traditional Chinese dishes?" Sukuna suddenly asked.
"I was one of the few slaves that could read, and so I'd help the girls that were tasked with cooking memorize recipes that they could could for the embasador. I, myself, did not step foot in a kitchen until I returned to Japan." (Y/n) explained.

"I see." Sukuna mumbled to himself before taking a bite of his dish.
"Oh, and my Lord! I have also come to return your scroll!" (Y/n) told him quickly, suddenly remembering the scroll that was tucked away in her sleeve. "Thank you for giving me the honour of reading it." As she spoke the girl made her way back to the shelves, walking to the shelf she remembered picking up the scroll from before neatly returning it.

"Pick another." Sukuna said casually from where he sat, taking another bite of his duck. The mam didn't even look up from his plate, but he didn't need to in order to feel (Y/n)'s suprise. Her head snapped to him with wide eyes. It was when she didn't reply that Sukuna looked over to her.
"Another good meal, another reward. I am a gracious man, no?" Sukuna asked, making (Y/n) smile giddy before nodding.

"Indeed." The girl agreed then enthusiastically. Then she turned to the scroll shelves again, her eyes flickering through every scroll she could see. It wasn't long before a specific scroll caught her eyes, layered closer to the edge as if Sukuna had recently just read it. There was a fire symbol engraved to the side, and that made (Y/n) curious. She picked it up slowly, realising it was a heavier scroll compared to the last, meaning there was more content to consume.

"Which one did you choose?" Sukuna then asked, as if he didn't already know- as if he hadn't purp purposefully put that scroll there to bait her into choosing it.
"This one." (Y/n) mumbled with awe, showing Lord Sukuna the scroll as she walked back over to his side of the room.
"And what drew you to it?" The Lord then asked curiously.
"The symbol of fire that is engraved into it's side." (Y/n) mumbled, her fingers tracing over the branding. Sukuna hummed, satisfied with her half-truth.

"Good. You're dismissed then." Sukuna told her, waving her off as he went back to his meal. (Y/n) nodded with a smile, bowing her head gently before turning on her heel and making her way to the open doors. Before she got there, she paused and looked back towards Sukuna.
"And my Lord?" The young girl suddenly called out, making Sukuna look over at her with a lifted brow with a hum of acknowledgement.

"Thank you." (Y/n) whispered with a gentle smile, making Sukuna narrow his crimson eyes at her questioningly.
"For what?" He asked her gruffly. That's when (Y/n) looked over at all the lights in the room- the torches and the candles. All of them were covered by lanterns, hiding the flickering flames beneath them. It was like this acros the entire temple, implemented by the time she had finished cooking his meal.

(Y/n) then looked at him with a knowing smile, her eyes full of pure gratitude. Sukuna didn't have to look at the lanterns for long to know exactly what she meant. The man scowled, scoffing loudly as he quickly shoved another piece of the duck into his mouth.
"Get out." He growled, his mouth full, making his words sound muffled. (Y/n) giggled at the yellow flecks that suddenly glimmering around his aura, representimg embarrassment.

The girl didn't say another word as she left the room in a fit of giggles, butterflies dancing around her chest that made Sukuna genuinely question if it was her cursed technique making him to feel this way...or if it was her smile.
