One Step Closer/ Two

The alarm clock sounded…it was 6:15.

Crissette Morrison rolled out of bed, flipping on her laptop, which was already preset to her internet radio station, broadcasting Howard Stern. She stretched her slender body; allowing fresh oxygen to circulate into her veins…she then went to her closet, trying to decide- what to wear?

She pulled out an Azalea Henley tank, a soft dune colored garden lace pencil skirt, a white cotton cardigan, and her favorite washed leather sandals. She stepped out her bedroom, as her roommate, Austyn Hill, was already up, and in the main bathroom, brushing her teeth. Criss stopped at the door. “Got any coffee ready?”

“It’s brewing,” she said, with a mouthful of toothpaste. “You wanna watch a movie tonight? My shoot will be done by five,”

“If homework isn’t overwhelming at the lab, we can do that,” gestured Criss, leaning onto the door trimming. She looked at Austyn’s short cropped platinum blonde hair, which pretty much matched the personality of her roomie. Austyn’s physique was proportionate to that of Natalie Portman. “So what do you wanna tell Hadrian?”

Austyn spit into the sink, then sipped the mouthwash, swishing it in her mouth. She purged that down the drain as well, wiping her face with her wet, warm hand towel. “Tell Had to eat a dick. I’ll catch up with him later,”

“You told him that you would go out with him,” pouted Criss. “That was what, almost two weeks ago? If you didn’t wanna date him, you could’ve said so,”

Austin walked past Criss, in her wifebeater tank, and her almost-too small USC fleece shorts. The bottoms of her asscheeks poked from beneath the fabric, as she walked to the kitchen. Criss nudged herself off the door molding, and followed her roomie…Austyn poured two mugs of coffee. She set the receptacle back into its slot on the brewer. “Fine…I’ll go out with him Thursday night,”

Criss smiled, after taking a sip of her coffee. She loved this blend of Caffe Verona from Starbucks- Austyn had turned her on to it, when they first got the apartment together. Upon noticing her smile, Austyn stuck her pierced tongue out at her roomie, and long best friend. “Don’t get all giddy, Chuck Woolery. Sure- Hadrian is cute an all, but he is full of himself,”

                                “Like you aren’t, heffa?”

“I know you are, but what am I?”

Criss looked Austyn under stern brows, as the latter put on a wide-mouthed grin, showing her whites. Austyn sat down to the table. “You better get your ass in the shower, or you’re gonna be late,”

“Shit!” hissed Criss, trying to run to her bathroom, while still holding the cup. She spilled a dollop of coffee onto her thumb, the heated liquid searing at her upper dermis. “OWWH! Dammit!”

Austyn let out a sinister laugh, as Criss took the mug with her other hand, shaking the burn. She then set the mug onto the table. “I hate you…you’re always laughing at me!”
