William was busy with his paperwork. He decided that he would finish them before the afternoon and take some rest. The weather was pleasant. The sun was shining brightly in the blue sky, while it was snowing softly.

He rumaged through the papers and read the documents carefully before signing them and putting them in the required folders. He peeked outside through his office window, only to see an empty lawn. Cathy must have not woken up, he thought. She would usually wake up. Before him and would do something or the other in the lawn. Although, a little saddened by that, he decided to focus on his work. But his heart kept on diverting his mind to a certain girl with brown locks of hair and sparkling, brown eyes.
He let out a sigh as he smiled softly. He was surely, 'madly' in love with her.

Having finished his work, he stretched himself on his chair. He checked the time. "Oh lord! It's already past eleven! Time does fly!"
He arranged the documents and put them in his shelf carefully. He was patiently waiting for the mailman when he heard the door bell ring.

"Oh, it's you. What do you want?"
"William, that's a very rude way of talking to your friend. Don't you think that you should call me in rather than making me stand outside?"
"May, trust me, I'm not interested in your nonsense. Please tell me why you are here?"
She gave him an evil smirk. "Alright. Seems like you have been quite busy in the past few days? That is why you seem to have forgotten about the picnic plan."
"Oh, I have not forgotten about it. I simply didn't wish to remember it."
"William, did I ever tell you that you have become rude?"
"I wouldn't say rude. 'Indifference' would be the word. And I think that you should be talking to Cathy rather than me. I'll call her if you want to or else you can leave."
"Yeah that would be so nice of you." She rolled her eyes as he made his way towards her house.

Cathy was busy sweet biscuits. She had woken up earlier than usual so that she could make meticulous preperations for the picnic. She wanted to take Charles with herself but the little boy had already scheduled a drawing competition meet along with his friends at one of their houses. She packed them in her basket along with some fruits and salads.

She went to open the door as she heard the bell. "Good morning William." Her smile almost turned into a frown as she saw May but she put on a fake smile quickly. "Good morning Miss May. I was about to leave. Just a few things left. Please come in."

May almost cringed upon seeing the size of the house. It was so small, rooms overlapping on each other. "Your house is so pretty ..... and small."
"We are poor people Miss May. You can't expect me to live in a grand mansion."
"I didn't mean like that. Don't get me wrong. Let's not ruin our mood before the picnic, please."
"Aye," she mumbled.

"The cool air is so rejuvenating. William come quickly."
He didn't pay attention to her. "Cathy, do you need some help with the luggage?"
"No, I am fine William. You don't need to worry." As soon as she said that, her bag fell down from her shoulders.
"Yes, I can see. Give me some." He took half of the items from her and continued walking.
"Aww. That's so romantic," cooed May.
Cathy's cheeks turned red. "William you didn't have to do that."
"I'll do what I think is good for you. Keep walking. I want to get over this picnic quickly."

"Cathy," shouted May. "Come quickly. Indeed, there are swans. See for yourself."
William groaned and complained about her annoying voice. He told her how she wanted to enjoy the wonderful weather, but there they were, stuck with a woman, who is nothing but insane. Cathy chuckled and told him to calm down. She told him that the picnic would be over soon. They just had to bear with her for a few hours. After that, she would have been gone.

May had been continuously talking about something or the other. The two didn't really pay any attention to her. It was kind of annoying. They came here to picnic, and the main thing people do in picnics, are talk, which, she agreed. But, there was a limitation to it. Cathy decided that they should eat, to which everyone agreed. She produced the biscuits, salad and fruits. May opened her basket and took out some chicken sandwiches, some cream cup cakes and an apple pie.
