The next day was a busy one for the Dudley's. They were busy with shopping and moving things for Mr Dudley. Jack had brought nothing with him except for a few changes of clothes.

Cathy was busy with Charles while the others went to the market. Christmas and the main ball was a week later. People were excited about this. She had heard that people would be soming from all places of Europe, that, it would be a ball to remember! She dropped off Charles at his school and made her way back to her home.

People were laughing and talking about presents and planning to go on trips. A gentleman tossed his hat towards her to which she curtseyed. The neighborhood was booming with positivity and joy.

The church was filled with people. All were praying for the well being of their family. She decided to pray and light a candle for her family as well.

She went to the father who was standing and blessing the people on behalf of God. "The Christ says that he is with you. Believe in him."

She bowed in front of him. "Good morning father."

He looked at her and smiled. "Good morning Cathy dear. Dropped you brother to school?"

She nodded. "Father, could I get a candle? I want to pray for my family."

"Absolutely." He rumaged through his basket and produced a candle to her. "Light this in front of Jesus and pray for your family. On this special week, Jesus will not return your prayers unheard."

She nodded. As she lot the candle and placed it in front of the statue of the holy Christ she prayed. She prayed for the betterment of her family, prosperity, good married life of her sister and brother, a rich and healthy aging of her uncle and aunt and the over all development of their family. She even prayed for the well being of her lovely neighbours who would never stop helping her.

"Good morning. Miss Catherine. Could you please tell me where the bathroom is?"

The voice belonged to Jack. He was wearing a white button down shirt and a pair of black slackers. His muscles were popping through the shirt. His voice was deep enough to shake the floor. It seemed like he had just woken up as he was squinting his eyes and flapping them constantly.

Cathy greeted him first. "Good morning Mr Arthur." She grabbed a newly bought towel for him. "The bathroom is that way. Turn towards right, and you'll see a brown door. Here, towel." She gave him the towel.

He nodded his head. "Thank you Miss Catherine."

She went back to her chair and started to read from where she had left. She was reading a novel, written by Sir Johnathan Moore. She loved his work. The way he described love as a painful yet a wonderful pleasure. The emotion which motivated you to work harder. And how it is different from lust. She loved it. She used to draft her own thoughts about the feeling of love and keep the pages in that book.
It had been very long since she got some time for herself and to read that book.

She check the time. It was already half past twelve. She had to bring Charles from the school. She got up and went upstairs. Keeping the book on her table, she grabbed her hat and went downstairs.

Jack was standing there and drying his hair with the towel. Seeing Cathy, he smiled at her. "You seem to be going somewhere."

Cathy nodded. "Charles' school has ended by now. I am off to pick him up."

He made an 'o' with his lips. "Would you be troubled if I accompany you? I have never been to this part of the downtown before. So I thought that maybe it would be a glorious opportunity for me to venture it out, under your guidance, Miss Catherine."
