I was still laughing at myself when I got up to clean the house.  As I was picking up furniture and cleaning up papers, my mind kept drifting back to what was in the sack. Garbage! I still couldn't wrap my mind around it!  Why in the world was the man carrying a sack of my garbage?!  Well, if I had known it was garbage, I would have let him take it!

I finished cleaning everything and it all looked like it should in about an hour.  I should probobaly go take a look in the mirror to see how I look, which is probably a nightmare!  I take a look in the hall mirror and nearly gasp out loud.  The knot on my head is about the size of a baseball, I should probably get some ice on that, and the cut on my eyebrow has started to dry and the blood running from it went all the way down my cheek. Ugh. I don't like blood. I guess I never have since I saw so much of it as a child.

Oh well, away from the past, I head to the bathroom and get a washcloth out of the cabinet and start cleaning up my wound.  I wonder where Lexie is? I think after a moment.  It has to be at least midnight, but when I check my watch, I realize it's only seven. Wow, I think, it's only been about four hours since I left the hotel. Once I'm done fixing up my face, I grab a book and settle down in front of the fire I started after the intruder left.  I let a sigh wisp through my body as I get comfy on the couch and open my book.

I'm startled awake my a car door slamming.  My heart rate quickens because who in the world would be here at this time of night? What if it was the robber? I sat as still on the couch as I could, hoping that even if it was the robber, he wouldn't see me lieing here.

I hear the footsteps climb up the wooden stairs to our small porch and I hear the jiggle of the door knob.  Then I wait as the door slowly opens. "Jen, I'm home!" I hear Lexie yell.  I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding.  I'm so shaken up I can't even reply. "Jen? Are you here?" She yelled.  She walked into the living room while taking off her new fashionable scarf I got her for her birthday and tossed it on a chair.  She looked startled when she saw me there in a position ready to flee, and I probably had a crazed expression in my eyes.

"Oh my gosh, Jen, you scared me! What happened? I tried to call you like a thousand times and you never answered!" She said finally, obviously she hadn't noticed that I look like I've been tackled by an entire football team. "Sorry. I forgot to bring my cell, and I guess I fell asleep while reading." I stated in a flat voice.  She frowned at the tone.  "What's wr- Oh my gosh, Jen, WHAT happened?!" She asked, finally noticing my beat up face.

"Ohh, nothing. I was just walking home when I was beat up and raped!" I basically cried out.  I decided to leave out the fact that there was a robber when I got home, I didn't want to cause her to have a heart attack.  "Ohh, Jen! We have to go to the cops! We have to go file a report! did you see his face? Or did he have a mask on? How tall did he look? Where were-" I finally had to cut her off. "Lex. Enough. I'm fine, just been knocked around. No, we are not going to the cops. You know I don't like them. He didn't kill me so I'm just gonna let it go.Yes, I saw his face. He was tall, like six foot, two.  Now that you're home, I'm going to bed. Night." I sat my book on the coffee table and headed for my bedroom. Once I was in my room with the door closed, I plopped down face first and cried myself to sleep.
