Crystal Westbrooks as Elizabeth

India Westbrooks as Ashley

Elizabeth's POV-

"Are you riding with me today or..?" My sister, Ashley asked. She pulled her curly hair into a quick bun before grabbing her bag from the kitchen counter. She was one year older than me. I slightly envied her confidence and the fact that she didn't mind people staring at her untamed hair. She had the most beautiful grey eyes, which she got from dad.

"Naw. I'll drive. I'm going to try out for the squad after school so.." I bit my lip, my nerves getting the best of me as I thought of the possibility of not making the squad.

"You'll do fine." She gently pushed my shoulder, sensing my mood change. "You were a cheerleader before, you got this, Liz." Yeah.. before my dad moved us half way across the world to chase his dream job. It's been a year but I can't seem to get over it. I even had to break up with my boyfriend.

"Yeah.." I said while tucking some hair behind my ear which was suprisingly tamed today. It took some time but it was worth it.

"I'll see you then, I'm meeting Luke." She blushed a little, which was so cute because my sister never blushed. She really liked Luke. Hm.

"See ya." I waved, pulling my phone out sending a quick text to Nique asking her to meet me at the coffee shop where we usually met before school.

"Good morning, sweetie." My mom placed a quick kiss on my cheek, as she walked into the kitchen.

"Morning, mom." Call me a mummy's girl, but my mom was my world. She was everything.

"Good luck today, you'll do great!" My mom squealed. She was also a cheerleader back in the day.

"I hope so.." I gave my best smile, before checking my watch. "I'm going to be late, I'm meeting Nique.. bye mom!"

"Have a good day!" I heard before I rushed out, getting into my car driving to 'Sam's coffee'. I pulled my jacket closer to my body as I walked into the shop searching for Nique. After checking my phone and realising she was running a bit late, I ordered for myself and her, taking a seat close to the back. Farther away from everyone. I casually scrolled through instagram to pass time.. and to not look like a loner.

"Curly.. I've seen you before.." A male voice said. I looked up to meet kind blue eyes. My brown ones slightly widening. Woah.

"Uh- where?" I stuttered. I don't think I've ever met him before.. even though he did look a bit familiar.

"Once, in my dreams." He smirked, his accent strong. Oh. That was the worst pick-up line humanly possible. I mentally cringed. "Is this seat taken?"

"Um.. no." He slid smoothly into the booth opposite from me, running his hand through his blond hair. He was cute.

"I'm Niall." He smiled.

"Elizabeth.." I shyly pushed my hair away from my face. It was annoying.

"You have a lot of hair.."

"I-um, yeah.." I don't know where this convo was going.

"You're mixed, yeah?"

"Yeah.. my dad's caucasain and my mom's black."

"Cool." He nodded along, as if interested. "You're pretty, we should hang out." My cheeks burned a little from his compliment. He was very forward.

"Thanks.. okay." He passed his phone to me. I quickly typed my number into it saving it as "Elizabeth" before passing it to him. His brows lifted at the sight of his screen, a playful smirk graced his lips. He messed with his phone before showing me. He'd changed it to 'Curly Liz'. I smiled.

"Cute."

"I know you are." There goes my cheeks again. Damn. "I'll see you around, yeah?" He stood up. I nodded, smiling as Niall walked away just as Nique entered. She was wearing normal shorts and a tank.

"Why do you look so flustered?" Her brows raised at me, concerned filling her eyes as she reached me, taking the seat Niall previously had. She knew me so well. I guess that happens after 5 years of friendship.

"Nothing.. just a guy.." I mumbled quietly. She heard though.

"A guy?" She squealed. "Aw." I smiled, shaking my head. She was just like my mom - over dramatic.

"Yup, he passed you on the way out actually."

"Ou, him? He was cute!" She fanned herself. See, over dramatic. I couldn't help but giggle.

"I know." I shook my head pushing the now warm cup of coffee towards her. "So, how's Andrew?"

"Oh, you're just going to change the subject? Smooth." She chuckled to herself, playing with the ends of her hair. Her smile faded away. I knew her well enough to know that she was nervous or sad, maybe both.. this wasn't good. "Andrew and I.. we kind of broke up." She faked smile, but I could see the pain in her eyes. How do people "kind of" break up though?

"I-I'm so sorry, Nique.." I grabbed her hand across the table, giving her a little comfort.

"It's okay, I guess. It just wasn't meant to be.." She shook her head. I couldn't help but remember Brent. I loved him so much and then I had to move to England and pretend like I was okay with breaking up with my boyfriend of 2 years. Nique and I fell into a silence. I didn't know what to say, I was never really good at giving advice especially when it was related to love. My eyes caught sight of the clock on the wall behind Nique's head.

"Shoot! We're late."

*

"Liz, don't look now but I think that guy from this morning is behind you." My heart beat quickened at the thought of Niall and I going to the same school. What a coincidence. I slowly turned around to see him leaning against a locker - probaly his - talking to two other guys. Their boyish laughs filling the hall way. I didn't even realise I was staring until Niall meet eyes with me.. for the second time today. Shit!

"Curly!" He waved me over. He caught me staring. "Come 'ere!" I bit my lip before slowly walking over to them, feeling slightly intimidated.

"Hi." I smiled at him.

"Hey. Guys this is curly, I met her today. Hot, yeah?" His hand placed on my back. My eyes flickered to his friends.

"I'm Liz."

"Smoking actually. I'm Louis." He lifted my hand and pecked it. My cheeks burned.

"Okay. Louis, God." Niall rolled his eyes. "I saw her first." Louis just chuckled. His other friend stayed quiet as he leaned against a locker. His face was blank, no emotion what so ever. Our eyes met and his graze was so intense I had to re-focuse on Niall.

"That's Harry. He's rude as hell, don't mind him." Niall and Louis shared a laugh while I took another quick glance at 'Harry'. He was already looking at me. I half expected him to say something but he didn't. Wow, this is awkward. I cleared my throat.

"Hey, curly you should hang with us later." Niall said.

"Yeah and bring your friend. Damn." Louis' eyes on Nique as she exchanged books completely oblivious to his stalkerish staring. I came to the conclusion that he was a very hormonal teenage boy.

"Na.. I don't--"

"Yeah, I don't think that's a good idea Niall." That guy said. That's the first thing he has to say? His face in a frown.

"F,ck off, Harry." He said which caused Harry to grow angry and walk away.

"Did I--?"

"Naw, don't mind him.. as I said before, he's rude." I slightly nodded still feeling like I ticked him off with my presence or something..
