Kanae smiled warmly in your direction and let go of Sanemi's hand to make her way over to you. As she walked towards you to give you a hug, you couldn't help but try to smile back. Yes it was nice to see Kanae alive and well, but also in the back of your head you couldn't help but wonder why was she holding hands with Sanemi.

Kanae finally made her way over to you and pulled you into a gentle hug, "It's been so long (Y/n)! After we had heard what happened to your family and couldn't find your body we thought the worse. It's so good to see you alive."

Even though you had conflicting thoughts about Kanae at the moment having her hug you gently like that some how brought a sense of reassurance and familiarity with it. You started to feel a bit of tears building up in the corner of your eyes and you buried your face into Kanae's shoulder. Kanae who was startled at first with the sudden tears smiled gently and brought you in closer. 

"Welcome back (Y/N)."

You sniffled and buried your head deeper, "I'm back."

Shinobu who was standing on the side smiled happily at her two favorite people being reunited, while all Sanemi could do was stare at yours and Kanae reunion. 

Sanemi rubbed the back on his head awkwardly not wanting to ruin the moment so he waved towards Kanae getting her attention, "I'll see you later at the Hashira meeting Kanae."

Kanae nodded and smiled cutely towards him, "I'll see you soon."

You sniffled and raised your head sightly from Kanae to see Sanemi's figure leaving. He had called Kanae by her first name.....so you guessed they were on first name basis. This sightly upset you, but you didn't want Kanae to notice so you tried your best to hide it. 

You composed yourself and put some space between you and Kanae, "Thank you."

Kanae smiled brightly and inspected your outfit that you were wearing, "I would have asked how did you find this place , but from the looks of it you have become a demon slayer."

You nodded, "Yes and from what Shinobu has told me you're the Flower Hashira, congratulations Kanae-san."

"Thank you (Y/N), sadly I wish I could talk longer but I have to go to a Hashira meeting soon. Maybe we could possibly have dinner with each other, I could even invite some of the Hashira to join. You would love them."

"Sure Kanae-san, just let me know when", you confirmed.

Kanae clapped her hands together in approval and excused herself to attend the Hashira meeting. As Kanae disappeared around the corner Shinobu walked up behind you, "So Sanemi huh?"

You jumped at the sudden closeness from Shinobu and you tilted your head, "What about him?"

"Well wasn't he the one who give you the hair pin?", Shinobu asked.

Your eyes widened in surprise,"How....how did you remember that? I never told you who it was."

Shinobu waved you off with her hands, "Please I know its been a while since we've seen each other, but we are still best friends. You couldn't keep your eyes off him and I noticed something sticking out of your haori and instantly recognized it as the hair pin you got a certain boy from a long time ago."

Your face instantly turned red at Shinobu's very direct matter comment, "So what if it was him.....he clearly doesn't even remember me..." you said sadly.

Shinobu patted you lightly on the back of your shoulder, "Don't worry, i'm sure if you spend more time with him he'll remember you soon."

You looked at Shinobu and smiled, "Yea."
