I woke up in Vanessa's room the next day. I must have fallen asleep talking to her yesterday. Rubbing my eyes, I sat still on the bed. Her dressing table was adorned with cosmetics and hair products. I inwardly groaned. Today was the day of the party and I was still not over my nerves. I thought of going back to bed but then Vanessa will come and wake me up in the silliest of ways. I yawned and smiled at the thought of yesterday night. Vanessa's reactions were the best. She just couldn't believe all that transpired between me and Alastair. It's not her fault anyways. I've never been noticed, I can't believe all that is happening too.

I called up Melissa to ask for a dress and she told me she'd get someone to deliver it to my house. She started shrieking and whooping when she heard whom I was going with. Even I'll admit, I was now a bit excited to look forward to this evening.

At 7:00 pm sharp, Vanessa burst into my room and I had to put away all of my homework. She took me to her room and made me sit on a stool facing away from her mirror.

"You aren't allowed to see yourself until I tell you to." She announces and I roll my eyes.
"Please don't make me look worse than I already am."
"Come on Gracie, don't be so harsh on yourself." She scolds and I sigh.

"Don't put all the shiz of your's in my hair." I didn't want to ruin the one good asset I had. In fact, I wanted Alastair to see me now. He hasn't ever seen my hair open because I never leave them loose. It's always up in a bun or tied in a pony tail or a plait. Maybe he'll like me if I dress up nicely today.

Vanessa keeps talking to me all the while about how Alastair won't take his eyes off me and how he'll ask me out. She's so dramatic. I tease her about Simon and she changes the topic, blushing all the while.

After forty two minutes, I realized that make up is a torture. Getting dolled up and then going out only for two hours, is it even worth it? My eyelids feel heavy and I don't think I'll be able to eat or drink properly considering how wet and glossy this lipstick is.

"Gracie, you look so awesome. Alastair will literally have hearts in his eyes." Vanessa gushes and it looks like she's the one who has hearts in her eyes.
"And now, you may look at yourself!" She declares and I turn around.

I look good. Actually I look pretty great. Mel's black dress fits me nicely and it is decent as well. My hair has been brushed nicely and it falls like a halo around my shoulders. Contrary to how I feel about my make up, it is actually light and looks effortless. Over all, I think Vanessa did a nice job. I look good and I can feel it.

"Thank you Vanie!" I coo and pull her cheek.
"Hey don't call me that." She laughingly tells me and we laugh.

I hear some sounds from the living room and I look at my watch. It's 7:45 sharp. Alastair is here. I look at Vanessa who gives me a reassuring smile before heading out of the room to meet Alastair. I step into my black heels. Not a very nice decision, but I think they'll go very nicely with this dress and enhance my height as well.

I walk outside and there I see Alastair standing. Shit. He is wearing a denim button down with jeans and converses. The first few buttons of his shirt are open, giving a sneak peek of a muscular chest beneath it. He is holding a bouquet of flowers in his left hand while he speaks to my mum. His hair is messy, yet tousled up in the most perfect way possible. His hazel eyes shine and his grin is of a million bucks. He looks smouldering hot.

Fuck butterflies, there is an entire fucking zoo in my tummy.

His gaze falls upon me and his grin fades. He gulps as his eyes take me in, from head to toe. When he has finished piercing me with his stare atleast for a minute, he grins. A happy, glad grin. I smile back and walk over to him.

"Mrs. Hyde, these are for you." He hands over the bouquet of flowers to my mother and she smiles appreciatively. She likes him, I can already tell that. I feel nice that my mother admires my choice as well. That is why Alastair is a great guy. Not only he is charming, he is thoughtful too.

"Hey Alastair." Vanessa pipes up from the side and Alastair looks at her.
"Gracie's sister?" He asks her and she nods earnestly. She'll probably go and tell all her friends about us tomorrow.
"Hello." He waves at her even though they're only a few metres away and she blushes. My God, she's literally fangirling!

"Okay Mrs. Hyde, I think we should take your leave now." Alastair says and mum nods.
"Please get her back by 10:15 pm. And enjoy both of you. Gracie, you won't drink." She reprimands me and I pout.

"Mum you know I won't." I say and I hug her tightly. It's always been a ritual. Greeting and hugging my mother before leaving for anywhere. Alastair watches this exchange with interest and I smile shyly back at him. He probably thinks I'm a childish little girl.

After bidding mum and Vanessa goodbye, Alastair holds out his hand for me at the doorstep.
"Are you ready Ms. Hyde?"
Linking my arm though his, I smile up at him.
"Ever ready Mr. Kerr."
